After Pluto (冥王星) was found in 1930, people took it as the ninth planet in our solar system(太陽系). But it isn’t like other planets. It is smaller and has an strange orbit(軌道). On August 24,2006, scientists said,“Pluto is not a planet.”
About 2,500 scientists met in Prague(布拉格,捷克首都). At first, some of them said that there would be 12 planets in our solar system. In the end, the scientists said that only Mercury(水), Venus(金), Earth, Mars(火), Jupiter(木), Saturn(土), Uranus(天王)and Neptune(海王)are the planets in the solar system. ②Each of these planets has its own orbit, and of the planets is big enough to be a planet. Pluto’s orbit overlaps (重疊) Neptune’s and it is smaller than the other planets. ③So Pluto is classified(劃歸/分類) as a dwarf planet (矮行星), but no longer a planet in the solar system.
Students at school will have new schoolbooks to learn the new solar system!
Before people _______ Pluto in 1930, there were _______ planets in our solar system.
Every planet not only has its own _______ , but also is ______ enough.
—————————————————————————————

小題1:found, eight
小題2:orbit, big(large)

小題1:根據(jù)After Pluto (冥王星) was found in 1930, people took it as the ninth planet in our solar system(太陽系)可知在1930年,冥王星被發(fā)現(xiàn)之后,人認(rèn)為它是太陽系中第九大行星,也就是說在人們發(fā)現(xiàn)冥王星之前,人們認(rèn)為太陽系里有八顆行星。
小題2:根據(jù)②Each of these planets has its own orbit, and of the planets is big enough to be a planet.
小題3:根據(jù)is classified(劃歸/分類) as a dwarf planet (矮行星)的意思是被劃歸為矮行星。 in the solar system.

Tanzania Tarangire is a national Park which lies in Tanzania. The park itself covers an area of around 2,850 square kilometers, making it the sixth largest park of its kind in the country.I recently visited Tarangire to see what it was like.
One of the first sightings upon entering the park which I found was a huge group of elephants. Our guide told us that Tagrangire was probably the best place in Tanzania to find large group of elephants, and that their population in the park was around 2,500.We continued to watch the elephants as they stood under trees and scratched themselves against the trees to hit the spot of an itch.
To the right of the elephant group, we noticed a big tree! Our guide informed us that this was a Baobab tree and that they could live for hundreds of years.Compared with this tree, the elephant just looked like dwarfs (much smaller plants or animals)! We were informed that Tarangire was one of the best National Parks in Africa to see so many Baobab trees.
As we continued our drive through the park, we finally reached a watering hole. Our guide warned us that there were lions all around us.It took us all a while to find them, but there they were! Most of them are resting in the shade under bushes, but there was one that was drinking from the watering hole directly in front of us.We then noticed just to our right, there were a couple of fresh zebra bodies — it seemed as if the lions which were resting had killed them! We were unlucky not to have seen the kill, as our guide had mentioned that the zebra bodies were fresh and the kill had happened within the last hour.
Our final big sighting was one that none of us were expecting to see, even our guide! We stopped at a place where there were quite a many cars, with a sleeping leopard(美洲豹)there! We took photos and watched its surprising body before returning to our hotel as it was getting late.
So, I hope you enjoyed my description of Tarangire, and add this amazing park to your very own Tanzania travel route.

Do you know that each child in school catches six to ten colds every year? Though there is no cure for colds, there are some suggestions for you to avoid getting a cold.
First, you can avoid catching a cold by practicing healthy habits. Begin by eating healthy foods. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables and drink milk and juice. Other healthy habits include getting plenty of sleep at night and lots of exercise.
Next, you should try to avoid contact with the viruses that cause colds. If you can, stay away from large crowds. When people cough(咳嗽) and sneeze(打噴嚏), the cold virus goes into the air. It’s duty of every man to work. The life of a lazy man is of no use to himself and to others. If the man is too lazy to work, he will usually become a not useful man. Everyone, when he is young, should learn some useful work.
But it’s not enough for a man to learn some kind of work. He should put his heart and soul (精力) into his work, and not waste his free time. “Work while you work and play while you play” is as good rule for young people as old.

There is an English say “Lost time never returns.” This means that everybody must be diligent, and make good use of time. In one way, it may be thought that failure(失。﹊s a part of life. In another, failure may be regarded as a step towards success.
The "spider-story" is often told as an example of this. Robert Bruce, leader of the Scots in the 13th century, was hiding in a hole on a hill from the English. He watched a spider(蜘蛛) making a web. Bruce is said to have got confidence from this and to have gone on to beat the English. Edison, too, the inventor of the light bulb(電燈泡) , made hundreds of models that failed before he found the right way to make one.
So what? First, always think about your failure. What caused it? Were you in high spir¬it then? What can you change so that things will go right the next time?
Second, is the goal(目標(biāo)) you are trying to reach the right one? Try to do some thinking about what your real goals may be. Think about this question: "If I am successful in this, where will it get me?" This may help to prevent failure in the things you shouldn't be doing anyway.
The third thing to remember about failure is that it's a part of life. Learn to "live with yourself” even though you may have failed. Remember, "You can't win them all. “

Our factories and homes burn coal and oil. Every year we have forest fires somewhere. Many scientists believe that the climate is changing.
The earth will perhaps be warmer by about 7 degrees centigrade. At the South Pole and the North Pole, the ice will melt (融化). The sea level (海平面) will rise by about 7meters. As a result, water will cover cities like London, Tokyo and New York. Some ports and towns along the coasts will disappear under water.
Some other scientists think that the dust, smoke and pollution from coal, wood and oil fires will block out the sunrays(紫外線). Then the earth will become colder and great sheets of ice will cover Europe and North America.
When chemicals in the air mix with rain, we have acid (酸) rain. Acid rain can bring us great harm. It destroys forests and kills life in lakes and rivers.
People are beginning to see how serious the problem is. They find it important to work with nature instead of against it. They are trying to save the earth in many different ways. But one of the most important things to do is to make people understand that saving the earth is saving ourselves.

We humans live in different parts of the world, but we have the same “mother”. She gives us everything we need in our daily life. She is our Mother Earth.
April 22 is Earth Day. The theme of this year is “Green Cities”.
A green city is a healthy and pleasant place for people to live, according to the United Nations.
A green city can get its energy from renewable (可再生的) sources like solar (太陽能的) and wind power. Also, it is connected by clean public transportation. Moreover, a green city is made up of facilities (設(shè)施) that can save energy and reduce waste.
Around the world, many cities and countries have done well to build themselves in a green way.
Chicago is well known for its green roof (屋頂) program. These roofs are covered with plants. The plants get a great amount of rainwater. Later, the water evaporates (蒸發(fā)) to help make the air cool and clean. So far, there are about 360 green roofs in Chicago, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency.
Curitiba, Brazil, has great transportation. It opened the world’s first bus rapid transit (BRT) system in 1974. BRT runs on special lanes. This makes sure that buses are on time even in traffic jams. With the help of BRT, the city has the lowest level of air pollution in Brazil. Today, many other countries have copied BRT, including China and Mexico.
Singapore is home to the first zero-energy building in Southeast Asia. Zero energy means a building is able to create more energy than it uses. Zero-energy buildings work with solar panels (板) mainly on roofs. These panels can make electricity which powers the buildings. By 2030, Singapore plans to build 80 percent of its buildings like this.

C.Reducing and Recycling D.Environmental Protection
小題2:The article mentions that there is BRT in the following countries EXCEPT _______.
A.Brazil B.Singapore C.China D.Mexico
小題3:From the passage, we learn that in the three cities _______.
A.people are encouraged to grow plants on their roofs
B.special lanes are designed to solve traffic jams
C.people make good use of solar and wind energy
D.people are provided with a pleasant place to live
小題4:The passage is mainly developed by _______.
