                                                                  What's Cool?
                                                                  By Maria Lee
This week, I asked students about fashion (時(shí)尚). I showed each student six things and asked them
about each one. Some of their answers were interesting. Here are their likes and dislikes.
Judy Smith likes the key ring (鑰匙環(huán)). Her friend Jeff says he can't stand the scarf (圍巾). "It's for
moms!"he said. William Jones loves the wallet, and his classmate Gina Taylor loves the watch. (Her best
friend Ann Rice doesn't mind the watch, but she really likes the sunglasses!) Jerry Green also likes the
sunglasses (太陽鏡).
And the coolest (最酷的) thing was the belt. Everyone loved it!

Alice and her brother, Peter, saved money for many years. One day, they broke their money jar and decided to help other people.
“Who will we help?” Peter asked Alice. “Let’s help our neighbors, Billy and his twin sister, Rose. I’ve found that their shoes are too old. We can buy two pairs of shoes for them.” Alice said.
Alice and Peter went shopping at once. They picked out two nice pairs of shoes and put them into two beautiful boxes. When it was dark, Peter walked to Billy and Rose’s house quietly. He put the boxes near the door, knocked hard, and then ran away quickly.
Billy and Rose came out, “Look! There are presents for us. Someone left them here,” Billy said in surprise. They looked around, but they couldn’t see anyone. They took the boxes inside happily. People began to live near one another, so the first village was established. Many people came to work in the villages, and these villages became even larger.
