Since I was a child, I’ve always been interested in reading fairy tales. At that time, I had no idea that reading them was actually good for me. I read them just for fun! Now I become a successful writer. When looking back, I finally realize the 1. of reading fairy tales. Let me share with you.
Make Reading Fun
I still have clear memories of excitement each time when my mother came home2.a book of fairy tales. It opened an interesting world to me. Having fun reading is one of the first steps in developing a life-long habit of reading. I truly believe that our 3. in fairy tales can help us to read more challenging novels during school years.
Teach about Story Structure(結(jié)構(gòu))
It is important to understand4.stories work. Fairy tales follow a clear beginning
(once upon a time…), middle(problem) and an end(they lived happily ever after). It can not only help us learn the story structure but also improve our writing skills.
Build Imagination
In my childhood, I always imagined that one day I could disappear from our own world and then with magic travel to5.world. There I can find dragons flying, animals talking and princes fighting. In fairy tales, anything is6.! When our minds are open to all of these possibilities, we may later have an out-of-the-box thinking style.
Teach Right from Wrong
A strong moral(道德) lesson is a part of every fairy tale’s DNA. Take Beauty and the Beast for example.7.the Beast is far from the handsome prince he used to be, Beauty is still able to find goodness in his heart. It teaches us people are more than their hairstyle and clothing.
As I wrote in my latest book, “If you want to be excellent, read fairy tales. If you want to be more excellent, read more fairy tales.” So why not go to a bookstore this weekend, find your favorite fairy tale and start 8. it?

How much pocket money do you get from your parents each week? Is it growing in recent years?
If it is, then you are luckier than kids in Britain. According to reports, they are getting less and less pocket money. British researchers did a survey of 1,204 children between 8 and 15 years old. They found the average amount (平均數(shù)) of pocket money for British kids was about 5.8 pounds a week in 2010. In 2009, it was 6.2 pounds and in 2003, parents gave their children an average of 6.7 pounds a week. To the researchers’ surprise, they find that boys get more pocket money than girls. Boys get 6.9 pound every week while 6.1 is given to girls.
However, children are not too worried about it.Almost half of them believe they get the right amount. Only 42 percent say they would like to have more pocket money.
Most kids like to compare their pocket money with their friends. In the survey, 37 percent believe their friends get more money than they do.
_____________.10 percent of the British kids save all their pocket money. 25 percent save at least half. 35 percent say they will save money to buy something they really want.“It is good to develop the habit of saving at a young age,” said Flavia Palacios Uman, one of the researchers, “you may benefit (受益) later in life because your savings will add up over time.”
