When something goes wrong, it can be very satisfying to say, “Well, it’s so-and-so’s mistake.” or “I know I’m late, but it’s not my mistake; the bus was late.” It is probably not your mistake, but once you form the habit of blaming somebody or something else for a bad situation, you are a loser. You have no power and could do nothing that helps change the situation. However, you can have great power over what happens to you if you stop paying attention to whom to blame and start paying attention to how to improve the situation. This is the winner’s key to success.
Winners are great at overcoming(克服) problems. For example, if you were late because the bus was late, maybe you need to leave home early. Or, you might call a taxi or call friends for help when in need. For another example, if your workmate causes you problems on the job for short of responsibility(責任心) or ability, find ways of dealing with his irresponsibility or inability rather than simply blame the person. Ask to work with a different person, or leave this person with some simple jobs. You should accept that the person is not reliable(可靠的) and find creative ways to work successfully regardless of how your workmate fails to do his job well.
This is what being a winner is all about—creatively using your skills and talents so that you are successful no matter what happens. Winners don’t have fewer problems in their lives; they have just as many difficult situations to face as anybody else. They are just better at seeing those problems as challenges(挑戰(zhàn)) and chances to develop their own talents. So, stop paying attention to “whose mistake it is.” Once you are confident about your power over bad situations, problems are just stepping stones for success.

The greatest feeling in the world comes not from receiving presents, or even getting an A on the math test you studied so hard for. Rather, it          when you hand a cup of hot coffee to that older man sitting on the side of the street asking for money. You feel it when you drive an hour and a half to a          to meet children with cancer. And you feel it when you sit down with your friend to comfort her          her mother died. Helping others can be the greatest feeling in the world, and I          this just one year ago.
My friend asked me to attend a Youth Group meeting at his church. After an hour of listening to them         their opinions, I was invited to go with them to help          the homeless.
Early that Saturday morning, a team of 15 teenagers began making sandwiches and counting bags of candy. For the first time in my life I realized that we, the teens of America, can make a        . Since it was my first time, and I wasn’t part of the group, I felt a little out of place. But watching the others          the food drove my nervousness away.
Before long, all 150 bagged lunches were gone and the group was          its way home. I realized that not only is my friend an amazing person, but that all of those people are amazing. That’s what made me join the Youth Group.
I work at a coffee shop but don’t make much. It’s not the best job, but there are times when it’s worth it. For example, a few weeks ago, when the store was         and I was bored, looking out of the window, I noticed an old man sitting outside. He had been there before. As a matter of fact, he          came in to buy anything because he didn’t have any money. I took up a cup of coffee, walked outside, and handed it to him. The smile on his face made my day, and as I walked back into the store, I put my own money into the drawer. Then I knew how the members of the Youth Group feel every time they help someone. Knowing that you can help
is        – the greatest feeling in the world.

On the afternoon of October 13th, 2011 in Foshan, a two-year-old baby girl was playing in the street while her parents were busy working at their shop. But unfortunately, a truck went by and knocked into this poor girl. What's worse, without stopping to help the girl, the truck went over her, making this poor girl badly hurt.In the next 7 minutes, another truck went over her, and 18 passersby just walked past without taking notice of the poor baby.At last, this girl was saved by an old woman who collected waste in the streets, but unluckily the baby girl was so badly hurt that she died at last.
This event aroused harsh criticism (引起強烈批判) on the Internet. But why do people seem so kindhearted only on the Internet, but actually in the daily life we can hardly see them help each other? Lots of people made comments online: If you save someone who's hurt, he may say it's you who hurt him.You may have trouble when you do a good deed, because the law doesn't protect you.
We really need to learn from other countries in such cases. For example, in Singapore, if someone does wrong to the one who helps him, he has to say sorry in public and pay 3 times the medical fee as punishment.
