Soon computers and other machines will be able to remember you by looking at your eyes! The program works because everyone’s eyes are different. So in the future you won’t have to remember a number when you want to use a machine or take money out of a bank. You’ll just have to look at the machine and it will be able to tell who you are.

The eye-recognition (眼睛識(shí)別) program is already being tested in shops and banks in the USA, Britain, Spain, Italy and Turkey. Soon this technology will take the place of all other ways of finding out who people are.

However, scientists are working on other systems. Machines will soon be able to know you from the shape of your face or hand or even your smell! We already have machines that can tell who you are from your voice or from the mark made by your finger.

Eye-recognition is better than other kinds because your eyes don’t change as you get older, or get dirty like hands or fingers. And even twins have different eyes, so the program can be up to 94% correct, depending on how good the technology is. Some programs may only be 51%. In Britain, it was found that 91% of people who had tried it said that they liked the idea of eye-recognition.

In the future your computer will recognize you in the eye. So smile!

Daniel is visiting an online club called Schools Around the World. Here are two pieces of writing on the website about different school lives.

Hi, everybody,

My name is Nancy. I am in Year 7 at Woodland School near London. In our school, boys and girls have lessons together. Among all my subjects, I like French best. Learning foreign languages is fun.

Our school has a Reading Week every year. During the week, we can borrow (借) more books from the school library. We can also bring in books and magazines from home. I often read more books than my classmates. Near the end of the week, we talk about the books with our classmates in class. Time seems to go faster when we are reading interesting books.

Hi, guys,

I’m John and I’m 13 years old. I’m in the 7th grade at Rocky Mountain High School near Denver.

Every Monday, I go to the Buddy Club. In the club, older students help new students learn more about the school. My friend Tony is in the 12th grade. He often listens carefully to my problems and gives me help. He is my best friend.

We have different classes every day. On Friday afternoon, we finish classes earlier than usual. My friends and I often do sports together.

Twice a week, I play basketball after school. I love this game and practice hard every time. Our team won two games last month.
