Robert had just moved into the street and he felt strange and that he was not wanted. He knew that perhaps the other boys were trying to get an idea of what kind of a boy he was. This did not help to make him less lonely. He was new and he had to be tested (考驗(yàn)) . Still, proving (證明) himself would not be all that easy. He did not want to run with bad boys or get into something against the law (法律) to prove that he was strong. No! He must show what he was made of in a more helpful way. That's when he got the idea.

The next day was Saturday. He knew that most of the boys would be down on the playground and choose up sides for the Saturday game. Robert knew he could play well and that just might be enough to prove he was strong and to make friends with them. He arrived early and did his step exercises. He shot (投擲) the ball several times and did some other exercises the most difficult and most wonderful in basketball. Then the boys came. Robert went through what he had done before the game and showed what he could do. No one said a word. The boys just looked at each other and thought about it. You wouldn't steal a car.You would never rob(搶劫)a bank or pick someone's pocket. But you may be another kind of thief.

If you have ever bought a disc for 15 yuan or less, then you have helped to rob artists or musicians of their intellectual properly rights(知識(shí)產(chǎn)權(quán)).

Last Thursday was World Intellectual Property Day.Activities to tell people about intellectual property rights were held around the country.

Intellectual property includes inventions, literary(文學(xué)的)and artistic works, names, and pictures. They are of little value(價(jià)值)if they are not read, seen and used.

While the cost of copying discs is very small, authors, singers and actors have to spend a lot of money and time making a new product. That's why they have the right to make money from their work.

So buying pirated(盜版的)music of Jay Chou and Jolin Tsai is like stealing from them, paying them no respect for their hard work.

If Jay Chou cannot make money from his work, he may not make anything else. But those who make pirated goods are becoming rich without doing any hard work.

The authors should ask for a fair price for their work.Earlier this year there was much talk about how much KTV clubs should pay the music companies for using their songs.

The copyright fee(版權(quán)費(fèi))also should be fair to the users. That's good for the music's popularity and society as well.
