The most important factor (因素) that leads to success is what you do every single day. Your habits will decide whether you are successful or not. If you have strong and healthy positive (積極的) habits, it does not matter whether or not you fail today because you will succeed in the long term (從長(zhǎng)遠(yuǎn)來(lái)看). Having positive habits does not mean that you will succeed every single time. However, in the long term, there is no doubt that you will achieve all your goals and be successful. On the other hand, if you have strong negative(消極的) habits, you will fail in the long term. It does not matter whether you succeed today or not.

Why are habits so important?

A single positive action will not change your life, but the same action repeated(重復(fù)) 1,000 times will effect on your life greatly. For example, if you go to the gym one time, you won’t see a big difference in your life. However, if your go to the gym 1,000 time over a five-year period, you will see a big difference in your body. The same principle (原則) is true of finance (金融), health, relationships, work, career, and school. Simple positive actions repeated every single day will have a great effect on your life in the long run.

How to develop positive habits?

There’s nothing easier than developing positive habits. You simply have to do every single day the action you want to make a habit. If you want to develop the habit of running, run almost every day. If you want to develop the habit of reading, read every day. Habits are created by repetition (重復(fù)). The more you do an action, the easier it becomes in the long term.

How to get rid of negative habits?

The only way to destroy negative habits is to stop reinforcing (加強(qiáng)) them. If you are a smoker, stop smoking. If you are a drug user, stop using drugs. Yes, it will be very difficult at first. The first week will be very hard. After three weeks, you will feel a lot better. It’s hard to get rid of negative habits because you got a lot of pleasure from these habits in the past.

You can do it!

Everybody can change. All it takes is courage and determination. Decide right now to improve your life by changing your habits. Take action right now! Don’t be afraid. Yes, you will probably make mistakes along the way. But never forget that success is waiting for you if you have positive habits in your life. If you refuse to give up, success will be yours.

Air travel makes some people very nervous. The crowds, the noise and flying itself can cause unease(不安). But there are classes people can take to help them overcome the fear of flying. And there is similar training for service dogs that suffer the same problem.

Service dogs almost never leave the side of the people they care for. You will see them working on buses, trains and other public systems. But the busy environment found at an airport can cause dogs ants in their pants even the best trained working ones. People with disabilities depend on their dogs. They want the animals to safely guide them through safety areas. They also need the dogs to remain calm on duty on the airplane, even when the flying is not smooth. This takes special training.

The Air Hollywood K9 Flight School is one place where such help can be found. The school has a piece of equipment(設(shè)備) that provides the sights, sounds and even the feel of an airplane in flight. Dog trainers say training is based on a simple rule: preparation. Dogs need to be trained gradually to the environment, to loud noises, to sounds and other dogs so that when this experience happens to them on a daily basis, they're able to act in a way that they're used to acting and that they don't get excitable. A study led by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health shows for the first time that exposure(接觸)to green space during childhood may have beneficial(有益的)effects on brain development.

The study was performed among 253 schoolchildren from the BREATHE project in Barcelona (Spain). Lifelong exposure to green space in the living places was recorded—using the satellite—based information on the children's addresses from birth up through to the time of the study. Brain structure was studied using 3D MRI(核磁共振圖像). Working memory and inattentiveness were graded with computers.

The primary schoolchildren who have been raised in homes surrounded by more greenspace tend to present with larger volumes of white and grey matter in certain areas of the brain. These differences are connected with beneficial effects on cognitive function(認(rèn)知功能). Moreover, larger volumes of white and grey matter might lead to better working memory and less inattentiveness.

"This is the first study that shows the connection between long—term exposure to green space and brain structure." Says, the leading researcher of the study, "Our findings suggest that exposure to green space early in life could result in beneficial structural changes in the brain. It also shows the lasting effects of early life exposure to greenness on our health."

This study also suggests that it is beneficial to increase greenness in cities. Green space can provide children with chances for psychological restoration(心理康復(fù))and prompt important exercises in discovery, creativity and risk taking. These exercises in turn positively(肯定地)influence different aspects of brain development. What's more, greener areas often have lower levels of air pollution, which could bring indirect benefits for brain development.

Anyway, further studies are needed to prove the findings in other populations, settings and climates. And researchers need to examine differences according to the nature and quality of green space.

1.The second paragraph is mainly about ________.

A.how the study was carried out B.what was recorded in the study

C.how long the study lasted D.who took part in the study

2.The word "prompt" in Paragraph 5 probably means " ________".

A.control B.encourage C.balance D.change

3.What can we learn from the passage?

A.Working memory influences white and grey matter in the brain.

B.Dr. Dadvand stressed the importance of changing the environment.

C.This study proved the influence of greenness on populations outside of Spain.

D.Larger volumes of white and grey matter might lead to better working memory.

4.What is the best title of the passage?

A.The greener space children grow up in, the longer they live.

B.Growing up in the green area may do good to brain development.

C.Early life exposure to greenness may have lasting effects on health.

D.More outdoor green space leads to a greater increase in inattentiveness.

Some of you may play Ant Forest. It is a game on Alipay(支付寶). Users collect “energy” to make their "trees” grow. When the “energy” reaches a certain level, some organizations(組織) and companies will plant a real tree in a desert(沙漠) area of China. And now it seems that our country has made the world a greener place for people all over the world.

A study by NASA(美國(guó)航空航天局) in February showed that China and India have made the Earth greener over the past two years. The study has found that since 2000 the Earth's green leaf area has increased(增加) by over 5 million square kilometers. That's the same size as the total area of the Amazon(亞馬遜) rainforest. It is mostly the result of big tree-planting programs in China and intensive agriculture(集約化農(nóng)業(yè)) in both countries, according to NASA.

“China and India have only 9% of the planet's land area covered in vegetation(陸地植被面積), but they did one third of the increased greening for the whole world." Chi Chen, the study's lead author(作者) and a researcher(研究員)at Boston University, US, told CNN(美國(guó)有線電視新聞網(wǎng)). China was the major contributor(主要貢獻(xiàn)者), adding 25% to this increase, while India added 6.8%.

Over the past ten years, China has done something great to green the land. In 1978, China began a national forestation project(植樹造林工程). It is also known as the“Great Green Wall". The program has seen many trees planted in thirteen provinces in northern China to act as windbreaks, according to China Daily.

With China's success in dealing with forestation, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP聯(lián)合國(guó)環(huán)境規(guī)劃署) believes China is a good example for others to follow.“China is one of the most successful countries in greening the desert and has lessons to share with the world," UNEP Executive Director Erik Solheim(執(zhí)行主任埃里克索爾海)told Xinhua.
