   Americans think much about time. From childhood (童年) ,they learn to value (珍視) time. As children,they should be on time to go to school,to work and to do everything. When they are having a good time,they say that time goes easily. When a person is dying (垂死) ,he says he is living on borrowed time.

       Time is money. Time is knowledge (知識(shí)). Time is everything in America. A working American has to work hard for eight hours a day or forty hours a week. This is the working time. In his free time,he also works hard for more money. Even (甚至) on Saturday and Sunday he also works hard as usual. In the street you can hardly (幾乎不) see a man walking slowly. They walk very fast. In fact,they are running. They love time because time can bring them money and lots of things. But sometimes they also hate time because they feel they are servants (仆人) of the clock.

     It’ s not just women who wear skirts. Men can wear them,too. In Scotland,men wear a kind of skin called a kilt. The kilt is their national (國(guó)家的) dress and an important part of their tradition (傳統(tǒng)) .

      A kilt is a coloured skirt reaching down to the knees (膝蓋) . It has checks (格子) on it with different colours,like red or blue. Each family in Scotland has its own colours.

How did the Scots start to wear kilts? There are many stories about it. Scots also wear kihs in parades when they play their traditional musical instrument (樂(lè)器) :bagpipes.
