One day as I was sitting in a coffee shop,I noticed a girl working on her laptop. Two people (A) passed by and accidentally knocked over her drink. To avoid the embarrassment (困窘) ,the girl pretended (假裝) that ( B) had hap pened and continued working on her computer.
This reminded me that both in China and Britain, when something strange happens around you or when you are in an embarrassing situation,(C) people tend (傾向于) to use this common way to not catch other people's attention.
A lot of the time,Britons use self-depreciating humor (自嘲式的幽默).This is a well-known British characteristic. For example, imagine walking (D) your friends and you fall over. Your friend may just say (E) “旅途愉快!” Or you may just laugh about how clumsy (笨拙的) you are. For many Britons, making fun of yourself is a way of showing your strength of character.
Also,British are considerate when it comes to embarrassing others. For example, students(F) usually have a birthday party every year. So during the school day,a student will give out invitations to the class. If one person doesrTt get an invitation, but the rest of the class does,he or she will feel embarrassed. To avoid it,ifs common for students to even invite people who aren't(G) their friends.

For some people, text messaging has (6) their lives. For example,James Trusler from Sussex in England travels around the world taking part in texting competitions and TV shows.
He's the world's (7) texter and recently set a new world record (8) he was ap pearing on Australian TV. If you need glasses to read this, you are a-mong most of Chinese students. About four-fifths of high school students in China have poor eyesight (視力) . And now more and more children in primary school need glasses, too.
Two main reasons can cause poor eyesight: too much time spent indoors studying and too little time spent outdoors playing. Reading and writing for hours and hours, sometimes in poorly lighted rooms, causes eyesight to weaken. But students have to do this because there is so much pressure on them to succeed in school. They have less time to enjoy the sun.
The sun,it turns out,is important in developing good eyesight. According to a study by Australian National University,Australian children and Chinese children have the same level of eyesight before they start school, but once they enter primary school,Chinese children only spend about an hour a day outside, while Australian children spend three to four hours each day in the sunshine. The result is that while about forty percent of Chinese primary school students need glasses, only three percent of Australian children do.
And poor eyesight at a young age can have serious long term influence. As you get older, your eyesight can worsen.
With all that in mind, don't you think it's time to give your eyes a break?
