    You may know the dog Snoopy. However,do you know Charles Monroe Schulz is Snoopy's father?

    Charles Monroe Schulz was born in Minnesota in 1922 and grew up in Saint Paul. He was the only child of Carl Schulz. When he was young,Charles loved drawing and sometimes drew his family Spike. Spike ate unusual things. His drawing of Spike appeared (出現(xiàn)) in the comic (漫畫書) .

    Snoopy is a lovely cartoon character (卡通形象) in Peanuts. Schulz got an award in 1962 for Peanuts. Peanuts ran for about 50 years. During the life of Peanuts,Charles only took a five-week holiday in 1997. Once Peanuts appeared in more than 2 ,600 newspapers in 75 countries. In November 1999,Charles was ill. Then he could not read or see clearly,so he left his work on December 14 ,1999. It was difficult for Schulz. He never dreamed that this would happen to him. He thought he would stay with Peanuts until he was in his early eighties. It is a pity (可惜) that Charles died at 9:45 p.m. on February 12 ,2000. Snoopy lost his father and many people who liked the cartoon were sad.
