Just a Quick Nap

Do you feel a little sleepy after lunch? Well, that's normal. Your body naturally slows down then. What should you do about it? Don't reach for a coffee!Instead, take a nap.

It's good to have a daily nap. First of all,you are more efficient (效率高的) after napping. You remember things better and make fewer mistakes. Also, you can learn things more easily after taking a nap. A nap may increase your selfconfidence (自信) and make you more active. It may even cheer you up. But,there are some simple rules you should follow about taking a nap. First, take a nap in the middle of day, about eight hours after you wake up. Next,a 20-minute nap is best. If you sleep longer, you may fall into a deep sleep. After waking from a deep sleep, you will feel worse. Also, you should set an alarm clock. That way,you can fully relax during your nap. You won't have to keep looking at the clock so you don't oversleep (睡過頭) .

Now,the next time you feel sleepy after lunch, don't get stressed. Put your head down, close your eyes, and catch forty winks (眨眼) .

Here are some suggestions given by the English children posted on the website about how to help Africa. Which one do you think is the best?

I think health is the   most important thing. We need to make sure that the money we

give is spent wisely. The money should be spent first on clean water   supplies and better

health care.

—Robin, aged 16, Birmingham

I think the most   important thing is to improve the education of the African countries.

There is an old saying, "If you give a man a fish, you'll feed   him for a day. If you teach

him how to fish, you'll feed him for a lifetime. " We need to   help people to help

themselves, not just throw money at the problem when it appears(出現(xiàn)).

―Rebecca , aged 15 , Liverpool

People seem to give a lot   more money to charity(慈善機(jī)構(gòu))when there is a sudden,

huge disaster(災(zāi)難)like the earthquake. It's good for people to   do so. But I also think

that we should give a small part of our salary(工資)to charity as well. If everyone did

that, it would make a big difference.

―Mary, aged 14, Stratford-on-Avon

Giving money to charity   can help, but it's not the final answer. I think what these

countries need is a good government.

―Bethany, aged 16, Newcastle

The best thing we can do   is to send experts(專家)like engineers, doctors and

teachers to help the people to help themselves.

―Robert, aged 16, Cardiff

I am almost 25,and my parents are always telling me what I can do and what I can't do. They 1      (hard) allow me to

Amy

Hi Amy,

It is a common problem with children from all countries,so I know that you are not alone. Here's my 3        for you.

My first idea is: Why are you still living at home?

At your age it is time for you 4      (learn) life. Did you think about getting a job in another area of your country? This

would be fine without causing a problem with your parents. Doing like this will cause 5      (few) problems with them.

Another idea: How about 6      (move) in with a relative? Get a job in that area and then, move out and get your own place.

You cannot be independent when under your parents' roof. You are their little girl and will be the rest of your life. They

feel that you should do 7        they tell you. This can stop you 8        making your own mistakes and learning from them.

They love you very much, but they 9      (not understand) it's bad for your growing up. So,it is time to leave and learn

what you want in the world.

I hope that the ideas 10        you a lot. Good luck!

Young people and older people do not always agree. They sometimes have different ideas about living, working and playing. But in one special (特別的) program in New York State, adults and teenagers live together in a friendly way.
