THE University of St Andrews is the setting of royal(皇家的) love: on the grounds of this great Scottish university Prince William and Kate Middleton first met and fell in love.
More than that, St Andrews is Scotland's first university and one of the oldest universities in the English-speaking world. Founded in 1413 (just after Oxford and Cambridge), over 600 hundred years, the university has been well known as one of Europe's leading and most distinctive centres for teaching and research.
St Andrews is located in a small, historical town to the coast(海濱)of North East Scotland. The university itself is the perfect place for learning. On average one in three people you see in the street have something to do with the University. You start to feel very quickly that you belong.
As a student in St Andrews, playing golf is a must. With the town itself known around the world as “The Home of Golf”, the university is within minutes of the ancient golf-playing ground in the world, the Old Course, just near the sea. Students can take a break from their studies by enjoying a game of golf, and the university itself is a popular place to go.
It has one of the lowest dropout(輟學(xué)) rates in the UK---98 percent of students complete their degree. Perhaps its popularity is in part because of the fact that St Andrews is good for nearly every subject. It has long been among the UK's top five.

Small talk is pleasant conversation about common interests. The ability to make “small talk” is highly valued. Now that we understand the problem, the next step is to improve the situation. Here are some tips to improve small talk skills.
◆Do some research
Spend time on the Internet, books, magazines, TVs to special about the type of people you will meet, and this can make your conversations more interesting.
◆Use the Internet for specific vocabulary
This is a bit like doing research about other people. If you have a business conference, or are meeting people who share a common interest, make use of the Internet to learn specific vocabulary.
◆Ask yourself about your culture
Take time to make a list of common things that you will discuss when making small talk in your own culture. And then check to make sure that you have the English vocabulary to make small talk about those subjects.
◆Find common interests
Once you have a subject that interests both of you, keep to it! You can do this in many ways: discussing travel, discussing the school or friends, discussing the differences between your culture and the new culture.
◆Listen

Yamasaki worked for several companies. But his success began when he started his own company. In 1956, he won the Architect’s First Honor Award for his design of an airport in St. Louis, Missouri.
