It's important to learn how we can protect the environment. Here are 5R rules for us.Reduce(減少).If you want to reduce waste, you should use things more cleverly.A large number of trees are being cut down to make paper. If everyone uses paper carelessly, soon we would not have any trees left.Other things are also being wasted, and people don't know what to do with the waste in big cities. So it is necessary to reduce the amount(數(shù)量)of waste we produce.Reuse.You should always think of reusing things before throwing them out.For example, give the clothes you do not use or the ones that are too small to the poor.In a family, you may pass on such clothes to younger brothers or sisters.Recycle.Bottles, cans and paper can easily be recycled.By doing so we save lots of time and money. For example, coke cans are sent to a factory, where they are smashed flat and melted. The metal can be used to make new coke cans.Recover.When you buy a box of apples, there may be a few rotten(腐爛的)ones. You have two choices:one is to throw the apples away; the second is to throw the rotten ones and keep the good ones.In this way, you are recovering the eatable parts of food.Repair.If one of the legs of your table is broken, you should repair it.If you want to buy something newer and better, it is better for you to sell the old thing, or give it to people who can use it after repairing it.Learn the rules to protect our environment.Let's try our best to make the earth cleaner and more beautiful.

                                              It's Really a Miracle (奇跡)
Mr. Clarke works in New York and brought his family to China. They visited many places of
interest and had a good time here. Before they left for Shanghai, the Clarkes climbed up the Great
Wall. It was the greatest project about three thousand years ago. They took a lot of photos there
and then they had a picnic under a big tree. Suddenly it began to rain and they hurried to the car.
And when they returned to the hotel, they couldn't find the bag in which their expensive camera
was. They were all sorry for it:They could buy another camera but had no time to go to the Great
Wall again. They could not miss the plane!
That evening they didn't have supper. Mr. Clarke hoped to make them happy and said, "Well.
Let me tell you a story. An old man lived in a sixty-storey building. One day he fell down from it
when he was cleaning the window. But he didn't hurt himself. "
"It was a miracle!" called out his children. "Why?"
"Because he lived on the first floor!"
They all began to laugh while two policemen with a bag came in. They said a Chinese boy
found it under the big tree and he asked them to find out who lost it.
"It's really a miracle!" the Clarkes said happily.

Mother's Day and Father's Day are two big national holidays in many western countries. And it's
interesting because they are not the same in every country. In England, Mothering Sunday is in March. In America and Germany and other countries, it's one Sunday in May. Father's Day is in the middle of June. How do you celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day? Let's learn something more about it from the
following introduction.
In England, we call Mother's Day Mothering Sunday, because it's always on a Sunday. I don't really
know the origin of it but I remember that my mother had a cup of tea early in the morning. And then we
would go to church. And at the end of the church service, the children would collect a daffodil (水仙花)
and take it back and give it to our mother who would normally be sitting in the service in the church. And
really that's all we did to celebrate the day.

As Ann said, I remember taking cups of tea to my mother. The idea in general is that the washing-up would be done; perhaps some cooking would be done on Mother's Day. We would try to relieve her of
all those jobs to make it a special day for her, so that whenever she looked around, there was something
to eat, something to drink, or something to read, or something interesting for her to do.

Father's Day is always in June, a Sunday in the middle of June. On Father's Day, the idea is to find
something fun that the children could do with their father together. I remember going to baseball games. I
think that on Father's Day it's particularly focused on doing things together because that is supposed to be
relaxing and fun for Dad.
1. In               , Mothering Sunday is in March.

2. Ann remembered that her mother in the morning                 on Mothering Sunday.

3. What did Bill remember doing on Father's Day?
A. Doing housework.
B. Eating outside.

A. The history of some national holidays.
B. The stories of some interesting holidays.
