Laura Fagan, a 29-year-old British girl, has a special job. She is paid well to taste chocolate, desserts and cakes. [
Laura works in the famous supermarket, Tesco. Her job is to try different kinds of desserts. She needs to try as many as 20 desserts a day. Also, she always travels for work. She needs to travel to different cities to try different desserts.
Although the job seems to be great, it is hard. Usually, Laura begins trying desserts as early as 8 am, and is still trying new desserts at 6 pm before she goes back home. Luckily, the job hasn’t made her too heavy. She only worries about her teeth.
“Of course I was afraid of becoming fat when I started the job, so I try to do exercise as often as possible. The main thing is my teeth. I don’t think my dentist will be happy if I tell her what I do, so I try to brush my teeth as often as possible,” Laura told a reporter. She goes to the gym to keep slim (苗條的) and takes more care of her teeth after trying the desserts. She said, “When I tell people what I do, they say it’s the best job in the world.”

Making a public speech is the thing that most people don’t want to do. The reason is that we are all afraid of making mistakes in front of others. The more important the speech is, the more frightened we will be. But forget it now. Public speaking is easy. It’s just a simple talking, Although I’m a shy man, I’ve been making speeches and talking on radio and television for more than 30 years. Anybody who can talk can speak in public. Here are some of the lessons I have learned:
Keep your speech simple. Your audience can’t take all of your main ideas, and they can only remember one or two of them, not ten or twenty. So you should prepare one or two of your main ideas very well. But if you can’t express what you want to say, then your speech will not be paid attention to. And if you don’t have a clear idea of what you want to say, your audience won’t, either.
Organize your speech well. No matter how long or short your speech is, you have to organize your speech—how you are going to open or begin, what main points you want to make and how you’re going to close or end. A strong close is usually very important and critical(關鍵的): the last thing you say is what your audience will most likely remember. If not, they will be confused.
Keep your speech not long. The standard (標準的) length of a speech is usually 12 minutes. Most people can’t put their minds in one thing for too long time, which will make them tired and lose their interest. If you pay no attention to your audience’s reaction(反應),the audience will get bored. Of course, your speech will fail.
Following these suggestions above, you can make a good speech in public, and you will be an excellent speaker, I think.

Computers can injure (傷害) you. Most other injuries happen suddenly. For example, if you fall off a bike and break your arms, it happens very quickly. But computer injuries happen slowly. You probably know how to ride a bike safely. Now learn to use a computer safely.
Your eyes
Too much light can injure your eyes, so never sit too close to a computer screen. Your eyes should be more than 50 centimeters from the screen. Don’t forget to look away from it sometimes. This gives your eyes a rest.
When you use a computer, the window should be on your left or your right. If it is behind you, the light will reflect on (反射) the screen. If the window is in front of you,the sun and the screen will both shine into your eyes.
Your hands and wrists (手腕)
Hand and wrist injuries can happen because the hands and wrists are moved in the same way hundreds of times.
If you use a keyboard for a long time, follow these three rules:
1) Rest your wrists on something.
2) Keep your elbows (肘) as high as the keyboard.
3) Stop sometimes and exercise your hands, wrists and fingers in a different way.
Your back
Some people sit for many hours in front of a computer. If you sit in the wrong way, you can injure your back or your neck. So you shouldn’t bend your back when you sit. The top part of the screen should be in front of your eyes. Your forearms, wrists, hands and the upper part of your legs should all be parallel (平行) to the floor. If you are sitting for a long time, get up every half an hour and exercise your arms, legs and neck.
Enjoy your computer, but use it safely.
