由the next time 知該用過(guò)去將來(lái)時(shí),所以填寫(xiě)would stay。

I had just a bit of it.可知該用一般過(guò)去時(shí),所以填寫(xiě)tasted

7.句意:將舉行時(shí)裝秀,除非下星期六下雨。The fashion show 是hold這一動(dòng)作的承受者,該用被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài),所以填寫(xiě)will be held。

Once there was a piano player in a bar (酒吧). People came just to hear him play. But one night, a lady asked him to sing a song.

“I don’t sing,” said the man.

But the lady told the waiter, “I’m tired of listening to the piano. I want the player to sing!”

The waiter shouted across the room, “Hey, friend! If you want to get paid, sing a song!”

So he did. He had never sung in public before. Now he was singing for the very first time! Nobody had ever heard the song Mona Lisa sung so beautifully!

He had talent he was sitting on! He may have lived the rest of his life as a no-name piano player in a no-name bar. But once he found, by accident, that he could sing well, he went on working hard and became one of the best-known singers in the US. His name was Nat King Cole.

You, too, have skills and abilities. You may not feel that your talent is great, but it may be better than you think. With hard work, most skills can be improved. Besides, you may have no success at all if you just sit on your talent.

1.The lady asked the player to sing a song because _____________.

A. she had paid him for this

B. she knew him very well

C. she wanted to have a change

D. she enjoyed his singing

2.Nat King Cole succeeded because ____________.

A. the lady helped him a lot

B. he caught the chance

C. he continued to play in the bar

D. he stopped playing the piano

3.The underlined words “sitting on” in the passage probably mean ___________.

A. fail to realizeB. forget to use

C. try to developD. manage to show

It seems that there’s a good reason why dogs are always seen as man’s best friend. Scientists have found that dogs are the only animals that can read emotion(情感)in faces much like humans. The finding suggests that like an understanding friend, dogs can see if we are happy, sad, pleased or angry.

When humans look at a new face, their eyes usually look across the left, falling on the right hand side of the person’s face first. A possible reason for this is that the right side of the human face is better at expressing emotions.

Scientists have now shown that pet dogs also have “l(fā)eft gaze bias(左視偏好)”, but only when looking at human faces. No other animal has been known to do like this before. Dr. Kun Guo showed 17 dogs pictures of human, dog and monkey faces as well as something else with his team. The dogs’ eyes and heads show a strong left gaze bias when the animals see human faces. But this did not happen when they were shown other pictures, including those of dogs.

Guo suggests that over thousands of years living with humans, dogs may have developed the left gaze bias as a way to guess our emotions.

“Recent studies show that the right side of our faces can express emotions better than the left. If true, then it makes sense for dogs and humans to see the right hand side of a face first.”

1.Why are dogs seen as man’s best friend according to the passage?

A. Because dogs are the closest animals to humans.

B. Because dogs can read the emotions in humans’ faces easily.

C. Because dogs can understand us better when we feel sad.

D. Because dogs are good at expressing emotions.

2.The dogs’ left gaze bias helps them _______.

A. get along well with humans B. express emotions quickly

C. have more understanding friendsD. remember more new faces

3.The passage mainly wants to tell us that _______.

A. dogs have been man’s best friends for thousands of years

B. humans have a “l(fā)eft gaze bias”

C. the “l(fā)eft gaze bias” works on all animals

D. dogs can read emotions the same as humans
