What do you do when you feel unhappy? Do you listen to music? Do you talk to a friend?
Maybe next time you feel sad, you should try going outside if it is sunny. Doctors know that how much sunlight we get can change how we feel. Scientists learned this by interviewing people who live in different parts of the world. In the far north, in Alaska or Finland, for example, the days are very short in the winter. People living in these places say that they often feel unhappy in the winter. In the south, where there are more daylight hours, fewer people say they are unhappy in the winter. The reason is the amount (數(shù)量) of sunlight these people get each day. Sunlight changes the chemicals (化學(xué)物) in our bodies, and these chemicals can change the way we feel. A couple of hours of strong sunlight or light from a special lamp can help your body make the chemicals that make us feel happy.
Another way to feel happier is to get some exercise. Just like sunlight, regular exercise helps our bodies make certain chemicals, which make us feel happier. In addition, exercise helps people sleep better and lack of sleep often makes people feel unhappy. Exercise also helps you get rid of stress. When you are angry or upset about something, exercise is a good way to get those bad feelings out of you.
1.Why do people in the far north feel unhappy more often than people in the south?
A.Because they can’t go outside. B.Because they get less sunlight.
C.Because the weather is too cold. D.Because the summer is too short.
2.How can sunlight change the way you feel?
A.On a sunny day, you can play outside. B.Sunlight makes you less tired.
C.Sunlight increases your body temperature. D.Sunlight helps your body make certain chemicals.
3.What’s the main point of Paragraph 2?
A.It is better to live in the south. B.Southern people feel much happier.
C.Sunlight can control our feelings. D.Northern people often feel unhappy.
4.________ will not make you feel happier according to the passage.
A.Eating more B.Exercising more
C.Getting more sleep D.Getting more sunlight
5.What is the best title for this passage?
A.Why Is Sunlight Good for You? B.How Can Exercise Help You?

Flying is a fast way to travel. But it is a big headache for some people. They can’t help worrying about things like “Is it dangerous if we don’t change our mobile phones to airplane mode(飛行模式)? ”Here are some interesting facts about flying.
Why are plane windows round?
It’s for safety. As the airplane flies higher and higher, the atmospheric pressure(氣壓)outside gets lower and lower. During the flight, the pressure inside the plane becomes greater than the pressure outside.
When this happens, square windows can break. That’s because having different pressures inside and outside puts stress on the corners of square windows. But rounded corners can spread the pressure more evenly(均勻地)across the window’s surface(表面),making it less likely to break.
What happens when a phone isn’t in airplane mode?
Some passengers believe mobile phones and tablets need to be turned off because they can bring the plane down. However, this is not true.
If you don’t change your phone to airplane mode, plots and air traffic controllers may hear unpleasant sounds in their headphones. This makes it harder for them to communicate. So it’s still best to put your devices(設(shè)備) in airplane mode.

As the host city of the next Winter Games, Beijing held a wonderful eight — minute show at the closing ceremony of the 2018 PyeongChang (韓國(guó)平昌) Winter Olympics on Sunday, sending a warm invitation to the whole world.
The show was directed by Zhang Yimou, a famous Chinese director who was also responsible for the eight — minute summer handover (交接) in Athens in 2004 as well as the opening and closing ceremonies in Beijing in 2008 that had a big success in the world.
Unlike Athens which focused on showing Chinese history with traditional culture like red lantern and jasmine (茉莉花), “Beijing 8 Minutes” gave special importance to the Chinese people’s sincere welcome to the world by using modern technology.
Leading the team were two dancers in costumes of panda puppets that are the world’s largest but the lightest at the same time, each weighing only about 10 kilograms. To reduce the pressure on the two dancers, researchers had tried hundreds of different materials until ending up with high — technology ones.
During the whole performance, the dancers and robots both wore LED lights on them that could be fit for the cold weather at PyeongChang Olympic Stadium without the risks of breaking.
The costumes were also made with a kind of special material to keep the dancers warm. Performers danced with 24 intelligent robots — standing for Beijing hosting the 24th Winter Olympics. They showed scenes of sports such as skating and skiing.
Pictures were projected to the icy floor while dancers skated across it, making a sense of augmented reality (增強(qiáng)現(xiàn)實(shí)). A number of moving screens in the middle of the field were also controlled by artificial intelligence(人工智能).

B.To show advanced science and technology in China.
C.To improve our living standards.
D.To carry forward the spirit of sports.
3.What does the underlined word “puppets” probably mean in Chinese in this passage?
A.木偶 B.模特 C.機(jī)器人 D.復(fù)制品

A.Athens 8 Minutes B.The 2018 PyeongChang Olympics
