Today’s the day of a big test at school, and you feel awful. Your stomach hurts and you have a headache. Some people might feel their hearts beating quickly while they are waiting for the test paper. A student with really strong test anxiety may even feel like he or she might be sick or throw up(嘔吐).
Sound familiar? You’ll find that just about all people—adults and others—have some anxiety before a test. According to studies, proper anxiety can be helpful, keeping you sharp and focused and even helping you get good grades. But when you have so much anxiety or feel so sick that you can’t do well in your studies or tests, that’s bad for your studies or your body health.
Of course, if you don’t study for the test, you might be worried. That kind of anxiety isn’t easy to deal with because even if you find a way to calm down, you still might not know what to do with it. When you are preparing for a test and you get a handle on your test, you will be able to let your knowledge work well and get good grades.
For example, last Wednesday was the day of a big test at school. Jane felt awful. Her stomach hurt and she had a headache. She knew she hadn’t caught a cold—but only a little nervous about the test. She really didn’t know why.
1.The underlined word “anxiety” in the passage means _________.
A. rule B. nervousness C. order D. timetable
2.From the passage, we learn test anxiety__________.
A. is common among people
B. comes from laziness
C. is only for unhealthy people
D. comes from teachers
3.According to studies, proper anxiety_________.

C. can be bad for a test D. is good for students
4.When you feel too nervous in a test, you may__________.
A. improve yourself B. fail in the test
C. get good grades D. feel very relaxed
5.From the last paragraph, we can infer that________.
A. Jane got badly ill B. Jane isn’t good at study
C. Jane had test anxiety D. Jane wasted much time

When you are learning English, listening, speaking and writing are important, but reading can also be very helpful. When you read, you can not only learn some new words, but also learn how to use these English words. When you read, it gives you a good example for writing.
Good reading tips:
Try to read at the right level (水平). Read something that you can (more or less) understand. If you need to stop every three words to use a dictionary, it is not interesting.
Try to increase (增加) the number of your new words. If there are four or five new words on a page, write them in your notebook. But you don’t have to write them while you read. Instead, try to guess their meanings as you read: mark (標記) them with a pen. Then come back when you have finished reading to look them up in a dictionary and write them in your own vocabulary (詞匯) book. Then try to remember them.
Try to read regularly. For example, read for a short time once a day. Fifteen minutes every day is better than two hours every Sunday. Fix (固定) a time to read and keep to it. You could read for fifteen minutes when you go to bed, or when you get up or at lunchtime.
Read what interests you. Choose a book or a magazine about a subject that you like, because you are going to spend time and money reading it. So, choose an interesting book. You speak, write a letter, and make a telephone call. Your words carry a message. People communicate with words. Do you think you can communicate without words? A smile on your face shows you are happy or friendly. Tears in your eyes tell others that you are sad. When you raise your hand in class, the teacher knows you want to say something or ask questions. You shake your head, and people know you are saying “No”. You nod and people know you are saying “Yes”.
Other things can also carry messages. For example,a sign at the bus stop helps you to know which bus to take. A sign on the wall of your school helps you to find the library. Signs on doors tell you where to go in or out. Have you ever noticed that there are a lot of signs around you and that you receive messages from them all the time?
People can communicate in many other ways. An artist can use his drawings to tell about beautiful mountains, about the blue sea and many other things. Books are written to tell you about all the wonderful things in the world and also about people and their ideas. Books, magazines,TVs, radios and films all help us to communicate with each other.
