【題目】
Although people everywhere seem to enjoy drinking coffee, they don’t all have the same coffee culture. In Europe, for example, coffee shops are common places for people to meet friends and to talk while they drink coffee. On the other hand, places like this were not as common in North America in the past. Instead, people in North America liked to drink coffee in their homes with friends. The coffee culture in the USA changed when Starbucks (星巴克) coffee shops spread across the country.
The first Starbucks coffee shop opened in 1971 in downtown Seattle, Washington, in the USA. It was a small coffee shop that cooked its own coffee beans. The coffee shop’s business did well, and by 1981 there were three Starbucks stores in Seattle.
Things really began to change for the company in 1981. That year, Howard Schultz met the three men who ran Starbucks. Schultz worked in New York for a company that made kitchen equipment. He noticed that Starbucks ordered a large number of special coffee makers, which caused his great interest. Schultz went to Seattle to see what Starbucks did. In 1982, the original Starbucks owners hired Schultz as the company’s head of marketing (市場(chǎng)營(yíng)銷).
In 1983, Schultz traveled to Italy. The special environment of the espresso (濃咖啡) bars there caught his eyes. Back in the USA, Schultz created an environment for Starbucks coffee shops that was comfortable and casual, and customers everywhere seemed to like it. Starbucks began opening more stores across the USA. Then the company opened coffee shops in other countries as well. Today, there are more than 16,000 Starbucks coffee shops all over the world.
However, that does not mean Starbucks has not had problems. In fact, many Starbucks stores have been closed over the past few years. On the one hand, this is because there were too many coffee shops competing for business in one small area. On the other hand, stores in some countries were closed because the coffee culture there did not match with the “feel the same everywhere” environment offered by Starbucks.

A.關(guān)閉。B.管理。C.落下。D.出售。原文“That year, Howard Schultz met the three men who ran Starbucks.”(那一年,霍華德舒爾茨遇到了三個(gè)經(jīng)營(yíng)星巴克的人。)
A. a-b-d-c;B. c-a-b-d;C. b-d-c-a;D. d-c-a-b。原文“The first Starbucks coffee shop opened in 1971 in downtown Seattle, Washington, in the USA.”(第一家星巴克咖啡店于1971年在美國(guó)華盛頓州西雅圖市中心開(kāi)業(yè)。)說(shuō)明b是最早發(fā)生的事件。原文“He noticed that Starbucks ordered a large number of special coffee makers, which caused his great interest.”(他注意到星巴克訂購(gòu)了大量特殊的咖啡機(jī),這引起了他極大的興趣)這是發(fā)生在1981年左右的事情,所以d是第二發(fā)生的事件。原文“In 1982, the original Starbucks owners hired Schultz as the company’s head of marketing”(1982年,原星巴克的所有者聘請(qǐng)舒爾茨擔(dān)任該公司的營(yíng)銷主管)說(shuō)明c是第三發(fā)生的事件。原文“Today, there are more than 16,000 Starbucks coffee shops all over the world”(今天,全世界有超過(guò)16,000家星巴克咖啡店)說(shuō)明最終的結(jié)果是讓星巴克變成了一個(gè)大公司,故a是最后發(fā)生的事件,所以順序符合選項(xiàng)C,故選C。

【題目】
Some people remember the things by writing notes to themselves. Then they leave the notes in obvious (明顯的) places, such as on the table, on the floor or in the middle of the living room. I don’t think I like to write notes to myself, Most of the time I lose them or forget to look at them until it’s too late. I would rather use an alarm clock to tell me what I should do. I have ten alarm clocks in my house. They could tell me about things. For example, if I have to make a telephone call al a certain time. I' 11 set an alarm clock to go off a few minutes early and put the clock by the telephone. Or if I want to watch a certain television programme, I' ll set an alarm clock at the right time and put the clock on top of the TV set, I can remember almost anything if I use my clocks. However, sometimes an alarm clock goes off and I don’t know what it means. I always remember setting it, but not why I set it. If the clock is by the telephone, I know I may have set it to tell me to call someone, but I can’t be sure. I might have set it to tell myself that somebody was to call me at a certain time.
