Tickets for the World Expo (世博會(huì)) 2010 will go on sale for groups on March 27, and for the public on July 1, 2009.
The basic ticket price will be 160 yuan. Foreigners will be able to buy tickets from overseas outlets authorized （授權(quán)）by the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination (BSWEC).
From March 27 to June 30, group bookings can be made for organizations, institutions and enterprises. The public can buy tickets from July 1.
Peak day admission tickets will cost 200 yuan and will cover 17 days including Chinese Labor Day holiday (May 1-3), National Day holiday (October 1-7), and the last week before closing (October 25-31).
Tickets will be discounted（打折）from 10 to 30 yuan for those who buy before the Expo opens on May 1, 2010.
People going to the Expo after 5pm (apart from the peak days) can get tickets for 90 yuan but only during Expo.
Three-day passes will cost 400 yuan and seven-day passes 900 yuan.
At least 62 million tickets will be available. Discounts will also be offered to the disabled, senior citizens, students with valid IDs and Chinese servicemen and women. Children under 1.2 meters will not have to pay.
The basic price is “affordable” for the majority of people. It was common practice to set ticket prices within the 1 to 3 percent range of the host country's per-capita disposable income (人均可支配收入).
The Expo organizer will encourage people to reserve tickets in advance or buy group tickets in an attempt to control visitor flow. The organizer is expecting 70 million visitors, 5 percent of whom will be from overseas.
The organizer will appoint domestic and overseas agencies（代理） to sell tickets and there will be 3,200 sales outlets in China. People will be able to purchase tickets at branches of China Mobile, China Telecom, Bank of Communications and China Post. Online and hotline channels will also be opened.
The first domestic and overseas ticket sales agencies will sign contracts with the organizer on March 2.
During Expo, visitors will be able to buy tickets on site or at kiosks（電話亭）. The Expo Bureau will appoint travel agents to organize group tours.

China launched its fifth Beidou orbiter into space on Sunday morning, moving it one step closer to its goal of building a navigation(導(dǎo)航) and positioning satellite network.

The first two orbiters were launched in 2007 and 2009 respectively.
Sun Jiadong, the Beidou program's chief designer, said on June 21 in a TV interview that China would launch 13 to 15 Beidou navigation satellites into orbit by 2012 to form a network that provides regional service covering the neighboring areas.
And in about 10 years, the network would be expanded to include more than 30 satellites covering the globe, he said.
The system is a crucial part of the country's space infrastructure for providing navigation and positioning services in transportation, meteorology, petroleum prospecting, forest fire monitoring, disaster forecasting, telecommunications and public security.
In addition, a global positioning system is crucial to any country's national security and defense, said Ran Chengqi, an official in charge of the program, referring to the fact that the US initially built its GPS system for military purposes.
It is unimaginable for China to go without such a system, he said.

Berlin — Germany will allow entry 20,000 foreign high-tech workers, under a plan announced on May 31st. Chancellor(總理) Gerhard Schroreder sees this as a way to keep the country from falling behind in information technology.

China Earthquake Leaves 5,000 Homeless
Beijing- An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale left 50,000 people homeless, killed at least one person and injured 39 others in southwest China on Thurday, with more accidents expected.
By late Thurday, 4,900 people were declared homeless after the quake destroyed their homes in a mountainous area lying on the border between Yunnan and Sichuan provinces. The dawn quake left one dead and 39 injured, destroyed 268 houses and damaging 1,132 other  buildings so seriously that they were considered uninhabitable.
Another 2,400 houses suffered less serious damage. The epicenter( 震中 ) was near scenic Lugu Lake, a tourist site, where the local school was severely damaged. Preliminary (最初的) estimates put economic losses at 180 million yuan ( 22 million dollars ).
Governments in Yanyuan and the neighbouring Yunnan county of Ninglang has joined forces in the rescue effects and tents, clothes and medicine are badly in need of for the earthquake victims.
The mountainous terrain, heavy rain and several aftershocks all prevented rescue effects on Thursday. The rain could cause more badly damaged homes to fall down.
