【答案】Dear Confused daughter,
I’m deeply concerned about your situation. Therefore, I’m writing to offer you following practical suggestions:
First, it’s wise to understand your mum and her love to you, because understanding is the first step to solution. Besides, talk to her face to face and ask her to give you some private space. Just imagine how she hopes to narrow the generation gap. Finally, why not do something to earn her trust? You can get her involved in some of your daily activities. If so, she will be relieved to find her daughter reliable and promising.

【題目】 Nearly all of us have a bad habit, whether we know it or not. Some people say they want to get rid of(擺脫)it but don't know the proper ways. Here's some advice on how to get rid of bad habits.
Make a list. Write down why you want to stop a certain behaviour, how it's hurting you and how to get rid of it. This will help a lot. Look at that list regularly.
Join in other activities. It's wise of you to do something else when you want to stop your bad habits. If you get angry easily, for example, you can practise having a deep breath or going for a walk.
Give yourself a present. Before you take action against a bad habit, decide what you'll do to celebrate it if you reach your goal,
Keep off bad habits. If you are fat and want to lose weight, keep junk food out of your house. If you are a heavy smoker with coffee, turn to tea and keep away from friends who like smoking.
Be patient. Bad habits develop over years, so you probably won’t be able to get rid of them quickly. In fact, people often give up several times before being successful, so you should be patient.

【題目】 About 12 years ago, I began making a series of dolls called “Wee Forest Folk”. At first, I made them from cloth but then began using a kind of polymer clay (軟陶) called Cernit. The cloth dolls were beautiful, but it was impossible to get the level of details (細(xì)節(jié)) I can get with clay.
First, I use wire (金屬絲) to build the shape of the doll. Then I cover the head, hands, and feet around the wire by using the Cernit. Then I make the doll's clothes myself, using lots of different materials. The completed dolls are fixed onto hardwood bases made by my father, Jim Logan.
Generally, the dolls show older people taking part in traditional activities. I've always had a great respect for the older generation.
Inspiration for the dolls often comes from people I know. Once I was caught looking too closely at the wrinkles (皺紋) on the face of one of my mom's friends. But I explained that her laughter lines made her more attractive.
Now I work as a teacher's assistant, and while I was raising my two daughters, Keri and Sheryl, I could work on the dolls only late at night. The girls loved to come downstairs the next morning to see who'd arrived in the night.
It's the detail that I enjoy working on the most. I once made a fisherman doll for a lady to give her father, including a tiny creel — a basket used by fishermen for carrying fish. When the man got the doll, he immediately opened the creel to see what was inside. Luckily, I'd made a small fish out of Cernit and placed it in the basket.
Hopefully my story will inspire others to try their hand at doll making — I find it very relaxing and interesting.

A.it takes much effort to make a doll

【題目】 Shot in more than 40 locations in L.A., the musical La La Land is “a love letter to the city”. To coincide with UK release, we asked a local writer to pick some of the film’s amazing settings.
Judge Harry Pregerson Interchange
La La Land’s opening scene is a six-minute dance that plays out in L.A.’s bad traffic. It is also where the film’s leading roles, struggling actress Mia and jazz pianist Sebastian, first encounter each other—in a road anger incident. The scene is said to have been filmed over two hot days in south L.A.
Smokehouse Restaurant, Burbank
This is the setting for the scene in which Mia discovers Sebastian’s talent for the piano. The fictional Lipton’s restaurant---where jazz purist Sebastian was reluctant to play Christmas music---is in reality a place long frequented by actors, producers and other show business types. It has been on this spot, across the street from the Warner Bros studio, since 1949. In the film, the outer wall of Lipton’s is the You are the Star mural (壁畫(huà)). which features Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin and others, which is on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Wicox Avenue in Hollywood in reality.
Warner Bros Studios, Burbank
Mia works at the studio’s coffee shop, where Sebastian comes to meet her. As they wander the studio’s lot, Mia points out “ the window that Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman looked out in Casablanca.” It’s one of the film’s numerous nods to movie history. Warner Brons is still a working studio, with 35 sound stages, 14 exterior sets and visitor tours.
Cathy’s Corner, Mount Hollywood Drive
This section of the road that winds through Griffth Park is the setting of their dance play. It overlooks the San Fernando Valley and features on the film poster. Cathy’s Corner is near famed Mulholland Drive, but prepare for disappointment if you’re expecting a park bench and street lamps, which only exist in the movie.
【1】In order to encounter some film stars, you may go to _______.
A.Judge Harry Pregerson Interchange
B.Smokehouse Restaurant
C.Warner Bros Studio
D.Cath’s Corner
【2】Mia mentioned the underlined sentence so as to _______.
A.stress Warner Bros is still in function
B.show respect for movies of previous generations
C.illustrate La La Land was filmed at Hollywood Center Studios
D.compare Mia and Sebastian’s love story with Humphrey and Ingrid
【3】In which section of a website can you most probably find this passage?
A.Nature and Environment.B.City and Transport.
C.Travel and Recreation.D.Food and Health.
