Tips on Being a Good Twitterer
Twitter or micro-blogging, is really more of a social commons than a full-blown social network like MySpace or Facebook. It pretty much does one thing: allows people to "tweet" what they're up to (or what
they're thinking about) in 140 characters or less.
Since we're sticking with the "less is more" aesthetic, I'm just going to give you 5 Twitter tips instead of
the 10 I could have stretched this into.
1. ________
Say whatever you feel like saying, but remember that whatever you write could exist in the digital
universe forever. Proceed with extreme caution.
2. ________
If you like something they say, reply by clicking the little grey arrow that appears when you hover
over one of their tweets. You can also simply type in @username (replacing "username" with whatever
their username happens to be on Twitter). This is the formal way to address someone on Twitter.
3. ________
Twitter has something called an API (Application Programming Interface), which allows programmers
to create experiences around Twitter for the community. Because of this, there have been an amazing
array of applications released that will allow you to manage your Twitter account easily. There's
Twitterrific, TweetDeck, and Twhirl-just to name a few.
4. ________
If you're looking for new friends, a quick search for some of your favorite things on search.twitter.
com will quickly reveal who you should be friending on Twitter. Maybe they'll follow you back?
5.________
Keep your eye out for these things. They're meetups for people on Twitter, and there's likely one
happening regularly in your neck of the woods. I've taken to hosting one monthly in the Seattle area, as a
matter of fact. Meet Twitter people-tweeps, tweeple-in meatspace!
Do you have any Twitter tips to pass along? You could even share the link to this article on Twitter and it might become the most popular story today!

A. There are few statues in the Middle East.
B. Art is a good means for people to know about religions.
C. Artists express their feelings and opinions in their works.
D. People know more about our culture through learning art history.
E. Art is more objective than history itself.
F. Art history provides information of different places and people.

1.
A study of art history might be a good way to learn more about a culture than is possible to learn
in general history classes. Most typical history courses concentrate on politics, economics and war.
But art history focuses on much more than this because art reflects not only the political values of a
people, but also religious beliefs, emotions, and psychology.
2.
In addition, information about the daily activities of our ancestors - or of people very different from
our own - can be provided by art. In short, art expresses the essential qualities of a time and a place,
and a study of it clearly offers us a deeper understanding than can be found in most history books.
3.
In history books, objective information about the political life of a country is presented; that is, facts
about politics are given, but opinions are not expressed. Art, on the other hand, is subjective: it reflects
emotions and opinions. The great Spanish painter Francisco Goya was perhaps the first truly "political"
artist. In his well-known painting The Third of May 1808, he criticized the Spanish government for its
misuse of power over people. Over a hundred years later, symbolic images were used in Pablo
Picasso's Guernica to express the horror of war. Meanwhile, on another continent, the powerful
paintings of Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros - as well as the works
of Alfredo Ramos Martins - depicted these Mexican artists' deep anger and sadness about social
problems.
4.
In the same way, art can reflect a culture's religious beliefs. For hundreds of years in Europe, religious
art was almost the only type of art that existed. Churches and other religious buildings were filled with
paintings that depicted people and stories from the Bible. Although most people couldn't read, they c
ould still understand biblical stories in the pictures on church walls.
5.
By contrast, one of the main characteristics of art in the Middle East was (and still is) its absence of
human and animal images. This reflects the Islamic belief that statues are unholy. That's why no figures
can be found in or around places of interest in these regions.

                                                        Steps to Retire a Millionaire
Having a million-dollar portfolio is a retirement dream for many people. Making that dream come true
requires some serious effort. While success is never a sure thing, the steps outlined below will go a long
way toward helping you achieve your objective.
1. ____
Vacations, car, kids and all of life's other expenses take a big chunk out of your paycheck. To
maximize your savings, you need to minimize your expenses. Buying a home you can afford and living a
lifestyle that is below your means and not funded by credit cards are all necessities if you want to boost
your savings.
2. ____
If you don't save, you'll never reach your goal. As obvious as this might seems, far too many people
never even start to save. If your employer offers a 401(k) plan, enrolling in the plan is a great way to put
your savings on autopilot. Simply sign up for the plan and contributions will be automatically taken out of
your paycheck, increasing your savings and decreasing your immediate tax liability.
If your employer offers to match your contributions up to a certain percentage, be sure to contribute
enough to get the full match. It's like getting a guaranteed return on your investment. Finding the cash to
stash may be a challenge, particularly when you're young, but don't let that stop you from pursuing future
riches.
3. ____
Studies have shown that the majority of the returns generated by an investment are dictated by the
asset-allocation decision. If you are looking to grow your wealth over time, fixed-income investments
aren't likely to get the job done, and inflation can take a big chunk out of your savings.
Investing in equities entails more risk, but is also statistically likely to lead to greater returns. For many
of us, it's a risk we have to take if want to see our wealth grow. Asset-allocation strategies can help you
learn how to make picking the right mix of securities the core of your investing strategy.
4. ____
Part of long-term planning involves accepting the idea that setbacks will occur. If you are not
prepared, these setbacks can put a stop to your savings efforts. While you can't avoid all of the bumps in
the road, you can prepare in advance to mitigate the damage they can do.
5. ____
Your income should rise as time passes. You'll get raises, you'll change jobs, and maybe you'll get
married and become a two-income family. Every time more cash comes in to your pocket, you should
increase the amount that you save. The key to reaching your goal as quickly as possible is to save as
much as you can.

Top Tips on How to Succeed in Life
What does it take to succeed in life? Author Dustin M. Wax has compiled a list of the top five skills you
need for a successful life.
1._________
Good writing skills are essential for today's competitive job market. But writing well isn't just a case of
producing grammatically correct sentences - it involves an ability to organize your thoughts, as well as
being able to target your ideas to an audience in the most effective way possible.
2.__________
With so much information out there, you need to be able to sort the potentially valuable data from the
trivial, to analyze its relevance and meaning, and to relate it back to other information.
3. ___________
Analyzing information is all very well, but at some stage you also need to make a decision. Over-analyzing can lead to hesitation, so you need to learn how to respond quickly and effectively, and to know what to
do based on the information available.
4. __________
You don't have to know everything, but you should be able to find out what you need to know quickly
and painlessly. This means learning how to use the internet effectively, how to read productively, and how
to draw on your network of contacts efficiently.
5. __________
Being able to switch off is extremely hard for some people, but you need to find time for exercise or ways of relieving stress and tension, or the pressure could end up literally killing you!

C. sticking to what you achieve
D. aiming high
E. Not putting all your eggs in one basketF. reasons for failures in business

                                                          Road to Success
1.
Many of the leading businessmen of Pittsburgh had a serious responsibility thrust upon them at the
initial stage of their career. They were introduced to the broom, and spent the first hours of their
business lives sweeping out the office. I notice we have professional sweepers now in offices, and
our young men unfortunately miss that useful branch of business education. But if by chance the
professional sweeper is absent any morning, the boy who has the genius of the future partner in him
will not hesitate to try his hand at the broom. It does not hurt the newest comer to sweep out the office
if necessary. I was one of those sweepers myself.
2.
Assuming that you have all obtained employment and are fairly started, my advice to you is to be
ambitious. I would think nothing of the young man who does not already see himself the partner or
the head of an important firm. Do not rest content for a moment in your thoughts as head clerk, or
foreman, or general manager in any concern, no matter how extensive. Say to yourself, “My place is
at the top.” Be king in your dreams.
3.
Persistence is the consistent factor in most people who succeed, no matter what they are succeeding
at.  Yet, in the work place we often seem to forget to persist what we are doing.  It’s easy to get
discouraged when you continually try to achieve something and it doesn’t work out.  But remember
that if you try long enough, hard enough and make adjustments along the way, sooner or later you
will get to your goal.
4.
And here is another prime condition of success, the great secret: focus your energy, thought, and
capital totally upon the business in which you are engaged. Having begun in one line, resolve to figh
t it out on that line, to lead in it, adopt every improvement, have the best machinery, and know the
most about it.
5.
The companies which fail are those which have scattered their capital, which means that they have
scattered their brains also. They have investments in this, or that, or the other, here there, and
everywhere. “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” is all wrong. I tell you to “put all your eggs in
one basket, and then watch that basket.” Look round you and take notice, men who do that not
often fail. It is easy to watch and carry the one basket. It is trying to carry too many baskets that
breaks most eggs in this country. He who carries three baskets must put one on his head, which is
easy to fall and trip him up. To summarize what I have said: aim for the highest; never enter a bar
room; never speculate; never indorse beyond your surplus cash fund; make the firm’s interest yours;
put all your eggs in one basket, and watch that basket; for as Emerson says, “no one can cheat you
out of ultimate success but yourselves.”
