Thanksgiving?

Thanks for what?

“SO, what will you be doing for Thanksgiving?” asked one of my students.

I tried to c 1 up with an answer to a question I had never even thought about.

  “Er, nothing”, I r 2 .“It's not a part of my culture.”

“But, sir, everyone knows that foreigners c 3 Thanksgiving.”

There are moments when I hate TV.As most of the “foreign” shows my students watch are American, they tend to b 4 that everything American a 5 to the rest of the world.

In Australia, we don't have Thanksgiving; it's purely a North American holiday.

My students have also asked me about Halloween, another celebration I know l 6 about.

When I was growing up in Australia, Halloween would come and go, and nobody seem to n 7 it.It is only in r 8 years that these festivals have been brought to Australia and China. That's why I am s 9 to find Halloween candy displays in my local Tianjin supermarkets, and that my students are going to o 10 a Halloween party on their school campus.
