Dear Peter,
I'm sorry to hear that you have decided to leave home because of your conflict with your parents.
I'm looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua

【答案】; Dear Peter,
I'm sorry to hear that you have decided to leave home because of your conflict with your parents.
I think it's unwise to make such a decision. Addicted to playing online games, you are not only wasting your valuable time but also hurting the feelings of your parents. Judging from your last letter, your parents are living a simple life to save every penny for your future. Therefore, wouldn't it be reasonable for you to respect them, have a talk with them and apologize? Meanwhile, you should manage your time more wisely and find some meaningful ways to spend your free time, such as playing sports with your friends, learning a new language, etc.
I' m looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua

Friendships can be difficult-because often people aren't as honest and open as they should be. Sometimes, people end up getting hurt.
Most problems with friendships come up because people are just too selfish to care about the things that their friends need. They care about their own needs much more, which makes it hard for friendships to work. However, being selfish is part of human nature. A person is put together in order to take care of himself and their own needs, not necessarily those needs of other people. Even though being selfish is something that all humans are born with, it is something that everyone should be against.
The best thing to remember when you are a friend to anyone is that you need to treat your friends the same way as you'd like to be treated. This is wonderful advice for a friendship because it is really the only way to make sure that you are giving your friends everything you would want to be given in a friendship. Whenever you have a question about how you should treat a friend, it is easy to find an answer simply by asking yourself what you would like your friend to do for you, if he or she is in your shoes.
Even if you're always thinking about how you'd like to be treated, and your friends are too, there are issuer(問題,憂慮) that come up from time to time in each friendship, and it is important to understand how to deal with these issues so that you can build stronger and healthier friendships. Issues like friends getting boyfriends or girlfriends and not spending enough time with their friends, or even friends finding new friends and leaving old friends behind are issues that will probably come up with one or more of your friendships. It is important to know how to deal with these issues so that you can keep your friends and make new ones. No one wants to have a broken friendship.
(1)This passage mainly deals with.
A.the importance of friendships
B.the advantages of friendships
C.the problems with friendships
D.the meaning of friendships
(2)According to the author, problems with friendships may appear when.
A.one is honest
B.one is selfish

A.to treat your friend as fairly as possible
B.to give your friends whatever you have
C.not to hurt your friends' feelings
D.not to think of your own need any more

Dear friends,
The recent success of children's books has made the general public aware that there's a huge market out there.
And there's a growing need for new writers trained to create the $3 billion worth of children's books bought each year… plus stories and articles needed by over 650 publishers of magazines for children and teenagers. Who are these needed writers? They're ordinary people like you and me.
But am I good enough?
I was once where you might be now. My thoughts of writing had been pushed down by self-doubt, and I didn't know where to turn for help.
Then, I accepted a free offer from the Institute to test my writing ability, and it turned out to be the inspiration I needed.
The promise that paid off
The Institute made the same promise to me that they will make to you, if you show basic writing ability: you will complete at least one manuscript (手稿) suitable to hand in to a publisher by the time you finish our course.
I really didn't expect any publication(出版) before I finished the course, but that happened. I sold three stories. And I soon discovered that was not unusual at the Institute. Since graduation, I have written 34 nationally published children's books and over 300 stories and articles.
Free test and brochure
We offer a free ability test and will send you a copy of our brochure describing our recognized home-study courses on the basis of one-on-one training.
Realize your writing dream today. There's nothing sadder than a dream delayed until it disappears forever.
Sincerely,
Kristi Hill
Institute of Children's Literature

【題目】閱讀理解。
Last year I was put into a lowerlevel math class at school. The reason I was in this class had nothing to do with my intellect (智力) or maths skills. I am blind.
The only problem with being in this class was that I was surrounded by “atrisk” students. These were kids who did not do well in school and they were constantly in trouble with the school and the law.
One Tuesday morning, I went to a Christian Student Union meeting before school. There was a guest speaker there that day talking to us about praying (祈禱) for our enemies. I began to think about this. As I considered the idea, I prayed and asked God how I could pray for the kids in my class. I had forgotten that they weren't bad kids; they were just lost.
At first, the prayers were mechanical. When I would hear their voices in class, I would pray, “Dear God, please bless soandso...” But as I continued, I began to think of the kids more often, and in my quiet time at home I would ask God to bless (保佑) the rest of my classmates.
As time went on, my classmates became more than just annoying kids to me. There was something growing inside my heart for them, something that wasn't there before. They began to feel like family, and I was learning to love them in a way I never thought possible.
I now see that praying is such a powerful act. Prayer is the most powerful tool a Christian has. When I pray for those around me, it also blesses my life, and it changes my opinion of others. I realized I needed God's blessings to see the world through loving eyes. The prayers I said for others turned out to help me the most.
(1)What's the main idea of the passage?
A.Praying for your enemies.
B.The experience of the writer.
C.How to get along with the kids.
D.How to solve the problem about the “atrisk” students.
(2)What did the writer think about the kids at first?
A.They were lovely and friendly.
B.They were always asking for trouble.
C.They were as blind as the writer.
D.They were less reliable.
(3)What made the writer change his opinion about the kids?
A.The suggestion made by the teacher.
B.The experience with the bad kids.
C.The change with the time going by.
D.The idea about praying learning from a Christian Student Union meeting.
(4)What can we learn from the passage?
A.The kids in the writer's class are bad.
B.As time went on, the classmates became annoying.
C.After praying, the writer changed his opinion of his classmates immediately.
D.By praying for others, the writer learned a lot.
