【答案】Dear Jim,
It’s so nice to hear from you. Knowing that you want to learn about the changes in Beijing these years, I’m more than willing to tell you.
In the past few years, great changes have indeed taken place in Beijing. To start with, Beijing boasts itself as a more and more international city with many big international events like Olympic Games held there. More and more foreign companies are set here which bring in more foreign people working and living here. Besides, there are more roads and subways built or being built, which relieved the problem of traffic jams in this busy capital. Shared bikes have become popular in Beijing as well. Speaking of the problem of air pollution, many measure like traffic control, using electricity or gas as fuel instead of coal…h(huán)ave been taken, which turn out well.
I’m taking all the advantages of all those changes as I am now riding a shared bike to school every day, breathing fresh air as well as keeping my body fit. You must have sensed my progress in English wording, since I enjoy talking with my foreign teacher and learn from him in my oral English class.
Anyway, I can’t wait to have you here to witness all those changes yourself. Come, and you will be stunned.
Yours
Li Hua

【題目】閱讀下面短文,根據(jù)所給情節(jié)進(jìn)行續(xù)寫(xiě),使之構(gòu)成一個(gè)完整的故事。
A wealthy man and his son liked to collect rare works of art. They had everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They would often sit together and admire these great works of art.
When the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. Unfortunately he died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was in deep sorrow for his only son.
About a month later, just before Christmas, there was a knock at the door. A young man stood at the door with a large package in his hands. He said, "Sir, you don't know me, I am the soldier for whom your son gave his life." "He saved many lives that day, and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet struck him in the heart and killed him instantly." "He often talked about you, and your love of art." The young man held out this package. "I know this isn't much." "I'm not a great artist, but I think your son would have wanted you to have this."
The father opened the package. It was a picture of his son, painted by the young man. He stared in surprise at the way the soldier captured the personality of his son in the painting. The father was so drawn to the eyes that his own eyes welled with tears. He thanked the young man and offered to pay for the painting. "Oh, no sir, I could never repay what your son did for me. It's a gift."
The father hung the picture on the hall. Every time visitors came to his home he took them to see the portrait of his son before he showed them any of the other great works he had collected.
The man died a few months later. There was to be a great auction(拍賣(mài)) of his art collection. Many influential people gathered, excited over seeing the great paintings and having the opportunity to purchase one for their collection.

【題目】For the last couple of weeks, I had been stuck in front of my computer working on a project that was very important to me. My every waking hour was consumed by the project and although I imagined that I would feel happy after completing parts of the project, I was confused to find that instead, I was feeling rather depressed. I tried a range of methods to help cheer myself up. I had a relaxing bath, cooked a delicious meal to enjoy with my family and even watched a lighthearted movie, but to_no_avail. It was only when I turned to meditation (沉思) for a solution that the answer came to me: turn to nature!
The very next day, I grabbed my camera and a bottle of water and set off to spend a few hours walking in a nature reserve, even though it was pouring with rain. Within a couple of minutes I felt alive again. To be honest, I felt like a young school girl again and had to stop myself from hopping along the path singing I’m singing in the rain, a song I used to sing when I was a child. I think as adults we often try too hard to control our inner children and as a result we restrain our own spirits, which only leads to depression and stress.
Interestingly, it has been shown that people who spend 40 minutes walking in a nature reserve have a drop in their blood pressure levels, but this does not happen when they spend a similar amount of time walking in a busy city centre.
If you feel a little low in spirits and know that you have spent too much time indoors, relax completely, remove your shoes and let your inner child come out and play.

【題目】 Skin cancer deaths among men have jumped sharply in wealthy nations since 1985, with death rates among women rising more slowly or even declining, researchers have told a medical conference in Glasgow.
Reasons for the difference between sexes are unclear but evidence suggests men are less likely to protect themselves from the sun or pay attention to public health warnings, Dorothy Yang, a doctor said.
More than 90% of melanoma (黑素瘤) cancers are caused by skin cell damage from exposure to the sun or other sources of ultraviolet (UV) radiation, according to the US Centers for Disease Control.
In eight of 18 developed countries examined, men’s skin cancer death rates had increased in the past 30 years by at least 50%.
But the nations with the biggest rise in skin cancer deaths were often not those with the highest death rates, the research showed. In Australia, for example, nearly six out of every 100,000 men died of the disease in 2013 -2015. That is twice the second highest death rate (Finland), but only a 10% increase compared to 30 years earlier.
Australia has been an early performer of public health media campaigns since the 1970s to promote sun-smart’ behaviour. While debate continues on how much of Australia’s record skin cancer rate originates from the sun, 30 years of public health campaigns have no doubt made Australians acutely aware of the dangers.
Skin cancer deaths among women in 1985 in Australia occurred at half the rate as for men, and declined by 10% over the next 30 years. In other countries, female death from the disease went down over the same period. In some other sun-loving nations, however, women saw at least as sharp a jump from 1985 to 2015 in death rates as men.
Scientists are studying whether biological or genetic factors might also play a role in skin cancer, but findings so far are inconclusive.
【1】What can be concluded from the passage?
A.Death rates among women are declining all the time.
B.Australia is the first country to conduct public health media campaigns.
C.Death rate of skin cancer in Australia was once the highest.
D.Female death rate of skin cancer in some sun-loving countries went down.
【2】What probably keeps people away from skin cancer according to the text?
A.Declining exposure to UV.
B.Biological or genetic factors.
C.People’s love for sun.
D.People paying little attention to public health warnings.
【3】What does the underlined word “inconclusive” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A.Unclear.B.Evident.C.Definite.D.Satisfying.
【4】What’s people’s attitude to public health campaigns in Australia?
A.Doubtful.B.Positive.C.Critical.D.Controversial.
