15.One butterfly species has come back from near extinction (滅絕)and is beginning to quickly adapt to warmer weather,a new research has found.
The research, presented at the Butterfly Conservation's international conference, found that the quino checkerspot butterfly has both moved to higher, cooler altitudes and has chosen an entirely new plant on which to lay its eggs. The butterfly, once thickly settled in Mexico and California, has witnessed a sharp drop in its numbers as climate change sees temperatures in their natural habitats(棲息地)become too hot and dry for the food plant its babies eat.
Camille Parmesan, professor at Plymouth University said that while the butterfly's movement is encouraging,it also points to the need for habitat protection. If the butterflies-and potentially other species-adapt quickly enough to move to higher altitudes,it's required that healthy environments exist in those altitudes in which the butterflies can settle. It's also required that these species have corridors(走廊)by which to move to higher altitudes,so that they can avoid getting killed by roads or long stretches of developed land.
Scientists believe the quino checkerspot is the first butterfly species to change habitat and diet so quickly, but it's not the only species to be forced to adapt to climate change.A 2013 study found that, while trees aren't moving northward as quickly as scientists expected, they're instead speeding up their lifecycles, causing younger trees to replace older trees at a higher rate.Certain desert plants,on the other hand, have migrated(遷徙)surprisingly far upslope, with some moving more than 800 feet from their 1963 lowermost boundaries.
Other species aren't adapting so quickly, however. The migration patterns of many butterfly species are being changed by earlier and warmer springs-something that's happening to some bird species as well. This changed migration timing could lead to mismatches in food and weather conditions for the migrating species, with food sources that were traditionally obtainable at a migration destination hatching or blooming(開花) too early for the birds or butterflies to consume.

72.We can learn from the passage that the quino checkerspot butterflyC.
A.will be certain to die out in the very near future because of global warming
B.is suffering from a drop in its population due to cold climate
C.has moved to cooler places and chosen another food plant for its babies
D.a(chǎn)dapts well to their natural habitats in Mexico and California
73.How is Paragraph 3 mainly developed?A
A.By making lists.
B.By using examples.
C.By analyzing causes.
D.By making comparisons.
74.In response to warmer temperatures, the trees areA.
A.quickening their birth and death rates
B.the only species to be forced to move uphill
C.moving northward as quickly as scientists expected
D.moved to cooler places at a rate of 800feet per decade
75.According to the last paragraph, when the species arrive at the migration destination, they mightC.
A.lay their eggs too early
B.suffer from severe diseases
C.have no food sources
D.change weather conditions.

由第二段第一句 the quino checkerspot butterfly has both moved to higher, cooler altitudes and has chosen an entirely new plant on which to lay its eggs 可知,the quino checkerspot butterfly 搬到了更高更寒冷的維度生活并且在一種之前它們從來沒有用過的植物上產(chǎn)卵,故正確答案為C.
73.答案 A 主旨大意題.第三段采用總分結(jié)構(gòu),第一句先指出 it also points to the need for habitat protection,然后接下來兩句 it's required that…It's also required that 分別闡述 the need for habitat protection,顯然是羅列論據(jù).C項易錯,cause 意為"起因",雖然也譯作"原因",但指的是直接導(dǎo)致一事物發(fā)生的另一事物,而本段第二、三句則是在闡述依據(jù)、論據(jù)、理由,與 cause 所表示的起因或原因不是同一回事.本段沒有舉例子,也沒有作對比,由此排除B、D項.故正確答案為A.
74.答案 A 細(xì)節(jié)理解題.由第四段第二句 they're instead speeding up their lifecycles, causing younger trees to replace older trees at a higher rate 可知,樹木加快了它們的生命周期,使新老更替更加快速,與A項表意一致,故正確答案為A.
75.答案 C  細(xì)節(jié)理解題  根據(jù)最后一段最后一句 with food sources that were traditionally obtainable at a migration destination hatching or blooming too early for the birds or butterflies to consume 可知,原來可以獲得的食物資源可能會因開花結(jié)實過早而不能供鳥或蝴蝶食用了,故當(dāng)物種遷徙至新的棲息地時可能會面臨沒有食物來源的困難,與C項表意一致,故正確答案為C.

5.Until late in the 20th century,most Americans spent time with people of generations.Now mid-aged Americans may not keep in touch with old people until they are old themselves.That's because we group people by age.We put our three-year-olds together in day-care center,our 13-year-olds in school and sports activities,and our 80-year-olds in senior-citizen homes.Why?

Fortunately,.some of us have found our way to the old.And we have discovered that they often save the young.
A reporter moved her family onto a block filled with old people.At first her children were disappointed.But the reporter baked banana bread for the neighbours and had her children deliver it and visit.Soon the children had many new friends,with whom they shared food,stories and projects."My children have never been less lonely,"the reporter said.

Grandparents are a special case.They give grandchildren a feeling of security and continuity.As my husband put it,"my grandparents gave me a deep sense that things would turn out right in the end."
Grandchildren speak of attention they don't get from worried parents."My parents were always telling me to hurry up,and my grandparents told me to slow down,"one friend said.A teacher told me she can tell which pupils have relationships with grandparents:they are quieter,calmer,more trusting.

10.Shi Jianfei is a college student at Beijing Information Science and Technology University.He met with an academic problem during the summer vocation but it took him a lot determination to finally approach his professor to solve the problem.To his surprise,the meeting turned out to be quite pleasant.
But only few students turn to their professors to ask for advice in solving problems or discuss academic topics with them.According to an investigation of 2,636college students conducted by MyCOS,a Beijing-based consultancy (咨詢公司),more than a third of them contact their,professor less than once a year.
Although most students and teachers are willing to communicate with each other,it seems that an effective communication system is absent.Shi says,"Communication usually takes place in class or between classes,because it's difficult to get in touch with professors at any other time.University professors always look very busy."
However,from the teachers'perspective,students are too cautious about communicating with professors."They're worried about asking questions for they think they may leave a bad impression,"says Du Xiguang,professor of chemistry at Northeast Normal University.Du created a QQ group in which students can discuss various issues with him,ranging from academic topics to personal problems."I find they are very talkative in this group.But if they talk to me in person,they're shy and nervous,"he says.
Wu Qian,22,an English major at Tsinghua University admits that when she meets with  problems she prefers talking to her classmates and upper-classmen."I think many students are too shy and passive,myself included.I feel more comfortable communicating with my classmates,"she says.
Du also says that the shyness of many students to a change lies in different teaching styles.In primary school,Chinese students get used to talking with their teachers because they're like"nannies"who not only teach,but also watch out for their students'personal development.
"In college,such communication isn't compulsory any more and students aren't pushed to discuss their ideas with professors,"says Du."The real problem is that students aren't yet ready to engage in adult conversation with professors.Some of them just expect professors to explain facts and help them prepare for exams,like in high school."

55.What does Paragraph 2talk about?B
A.The reason why the communication is little.
B.The present situation of communication.
C.The background of the phenomenon.
D.The details of the phenomenon.
56.What's the real reason why Shi Jianfei didn't turn to his professor for help immediately meeting with an academic problem?C
A.An effective communication mechanism is absent.
B.It's difficult to get in touch with professor.
C.He is too shy and passive.
D.Communication isn't compulsory any more.

A.By giving some dialogues between students and teachers
B.By giving some specific examples of students and teachers
C.By interviewing different students and teachers

7.It is,perhaps,no accident that many of the outstanding figures of the past were amazingly  versatile men.Right up until very recent times,it was possible for an intelligent person to be familiar with almost every branch of knowledge.Thus,men of genius like Leonardo da Cinci or Sir Philip Sidney,engaged in many careers at once as a matter of course.Da Vinci was so busy with his numerous inventions,that he hardly found the time to complete his paintings; Sidney,who died in battle when he was only thirty-two years old,was not only a great soldier,but a brilliant scholar and poet as well.Both these men came very near to fulfilling the Renaissance (文藝復(fù)興) ideal of the‘universal man',the man who was expert at everything.
Today,we rarely,if ever,hear that a musician has just invented a new type of space rocket.Knowledge has become divided and subdivided into countless,narrowly-defined fields.The specialist is respected; the versatile person,far from being admired,is more often regarded with distrust.The modern world is a world of highly-skilled‘experts'who have had to devote the greater part of their lives to a very limited field of study in order to compete with their fellows.
With this high degree of specialization,the frontiers of knowledge are steadily being pushed back more rapidly than ever before.But this has not been achieved without considerable cost.The scientist,who outside his own particular subject is little more than a fool,is a modern phenomenon; as is the man of letters who is hardly aware of the rapid progress that has been made in technology.Similarly,specialization has indirectly affected quite ordinary people in every walk of life.Many activities which were once pursued (追求) for their own sakes,are often given up in despair:they require techniques,the experts tell us,which take a lifetime to master.Why learn to play the piano,when you can listen to the world's greatest pianists in your own drawing-room?
Little by little,we are becoming more and more separate from each other.It is almost impossible to talk to your neighbor about his job,even if he is engaged in roughly the same work as you are.The Royal Society in Britain includes among its members only the most admirable scientists in the country.Yet it is highly confusing to find that even here,as one of its fellows put it,at an academic(學(xué)術(shù)的) lecture only 10% of the members can understand 50% of what is being said!

57.The underlined expression"versatile men"refers toC.
A.highly-skilled specialists   B.brilliant scholars
C.talented people              D.a(chǎn)dmirable scientists
58.According to the passage,if da Vinci and Sydney lived in the modern world,D.
A.they would enjoy a better reputation
B.people would look up to them in amazement
C.they might have made greater achievements
D.they might not be truly appreciated by people
59.By quoting"at lecture only 10% of the members can understand 50% of what is being said",the writer wants to show that the high-degree specializationD.
A.has made scientists unwilling to share their achievements
B.has widened the academic gap between scientists in the same field
C.has indirectly affected people in every walk of life
