I was born in a farmer’s family in Suizhong County, Liaoning Province in June, in 1965．When I was a child, I dreamed flying in the sky．I joined the army in June, 1983．In 1992, I was sent to the air force base．In August, 1996, I become one of the first 14 members from 1,500 pilot through the physical examination．I worked hardly, so I was among the first astronauts of our country in 1998．

I was choosed as one of the first man space aircraft astronauts later．In Oct．15, 2003, I successful flew to space, circled around the earth about 14 circles and then returned．I was honored to have given the chance to be the first Chinese to travel in space．

My swimming experience is extreme interesting. There was a time when I swim like a rock. This went on till one day when I was fishing with a friend of mine at nearby pond. I slipped into one. Had my friend not come to my rescue, I would have been drowned. Ever since then, I had come to know the importance of learning to swim. I didn’t attend at any training class but learned it all by myself. Strange to say, I have difficult swimming at all now. Though the way I swim look awkward (笨拙的), at least it can keep me from floating. Thinking of this, I feel quite satisfying.

When I was an elementary school student aging ten, I took part in a singing competition in our city. It was my first time to be in a singing competition. In the day of the competition, I was asked to enter into a studio room, which there was only one person and a piano. The man asked me  sing in front of the microphone, following his piano playing. My mother was waiting for me outside the studio. I thought that I sang better at the time. So when I finished and walked out the studio, my mother asked, “What happened to your voices? Why couldn’t we hear you?” Then, I realized that I forget to switch on the microphone.
