Snowflakes! You can catch them on your tongue (舌頭) or use them to make a perfect snowball. But have you ever thought about taking pictures of them? Ken Libbrecht did. He is a physics professor from California. Although the weather in California is usually warm and sunny, Ken’s hobby is taking pictures of snowflakes. He travels to cold areas like Alaska and Canada to find snowstorms and take pictures of the snowflakes. “They are often beautiful, and every snowfall brings new surprises,” says Ken.

Ken takes pictures of snowflakes with a high-quality digital camera. He uses a microscope (顯微鏡) to make the tiny snowflakes larger. To get the best images, Ken built a special photo-microscope just for snowflakes. He collects flakes by letting them fall onto a piece of foam board (泡沫板).

The pictures must be taken outdoors, so Ken wears lots of clothes to stay warm. But his fingers often get cold, because it’s difficult for him to take pictures of a tiny snowflake with gloves.

Each snowflake has shapes and patterns (圖案) that make it as unique (獨特的) as a person’s fingerprint. The hobby of snowflake photography is also unique. Next time a snowstorm blows through your town, take a closer look at the flakes before you gather them into a snowball. See if you can notice their unique patterns. Millions of snowflakes are waiting for you!

Do you believe in yourself? When you are in trouble, don’t say you can’t get over it. Believe in your dreams. Believe that you are loved. Believe that you make a difference. I was told a story about a teacher who once did what he could his students get to know the importance of believing in themselves.

The teacher stood before his class and was going to hand out the final exam papers. “I know how you have worked to prepare for this test,” he said. “And because I know you can do it well, I am willing to offer a B to those who not to take the test.”

Many students thanked the teacher and left. The teacher looked at the students left and said, “Does anyone else want to get a ‘B’? This is your last .” Two more students decided to go.

Only seven students were still in the classroom. The teacher then the papers. There were only three sentences on the paper: Congratulations! You have just an ‘A’ in this class. Keep believing in yourselves.

I never had a teacher like that, but I think it is a test that any teacher could give. Students who are not confident in what they have learned are ‘B’ students .對他們已經所學的東西不是自信的學生最多是B類學生。

The same is in our daily life. The ‘A’ students are those who believe in what they are doing because they have both successes and failures. They have got life’s , not only from normal education, but from events in their lives, and have become better people. You see, one should always believe in himself.
