1."There's a mistake.‘Moonlight,'you guys won best picture."
And with those words,producer Jordan Horowitz of"La La Land,"told the cast and crew of a competing film that it had won the Oscars'biggest award.Presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were given the wrong category's envelope before they went on stage.
Beatty was clearly confused about what he saw when he opened the envelope,but Dunaway read the name of the film listed below Stone's name.The actors and producers from"La La Land"left their seats and filled the stage to accept their Oscar statues.They gave many speeches before Horowitz interrupted."This is not a joke.Moonlight has won best picture,"he said.He took the card from Beatty and held it up for the cameras."Moonlight.Best Picture,"he said as the camera moved closer.
The show's host,Jimmy Kimmel,made the best of the situation.He went up to Beatty,and exclaimed"Warren.What did you do?"Kimmel also said,"Personally,I blame Steve Harvey."That was in reference to the mistake Harvey made in 2015at the Miss Universe pageant.He announced the wrong winner,first saying it was the contestant from Colombia,and then realizing the correct winner was actually from the Philippines.
Once order had been restored,Beatty tried to explain what happened,saying he had been given the wrong envelope.Barry Jenkins is the writer and director of"Moonlight."Once he reached the stage,he said"even in my dreams,this cannot be true."Stone,happy to have won the best actress award,later said"is that the craziest Oscar moment of all time?Cool!"
Many people are wondering how the mistake was made.The accounting firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers has been handling Oscar votes for over 80years without any problems.The firm apologized to all of the people who were made uncomfortable by the mistake.It promised to investigate what caused the error.
Horowitz is being credited for staying calm and stopping the show to correct the error.People are calling him"gracious,""a great producer,"and"classy."Even Jenkins said"much respect to that dude."

12.A MAJOR breakthrough that could save many lives could be coming,as a simple blood test from genomics (基因組學(xué)) company Illumina could help to detect (發(fā)現(xiàn))cancer early.
The company, helped by $100 million (about 658 million yuan)from famous tech founders like Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos, aims to find warning signs of any type of cancer before there are any symptoms or tumors (腫瘤),and thus save many lives, according to The Telegraph.
The race to invent this type of technology is happening between several scientists. For example, the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute and the University of Leicester in the UK are both working on similar technologies.
Although some blood treatments that show tumors returning or cancer getting worse have been developed, scientists have been trying for some time to find cancer signs in people that otherwise seem healthy. The technology, called"liquid biopsy",would work by finding parts of DNA that are known to be signs of cancer in the blood as the disease developed.
Catching cancer early isn't always a good thing-some cancers never go on to become dangerous, but treating them can have bad side effects. However,Jay Flatley, the Illumina chief executive and chairman of Grail,a company set up by Illumina, told The New York Times that Grail will solve these issues by sequencing(確定…的順序)the DNA of 30,000 to 50,000 people. It will check how serious their cancers are over time to make the test accurate. The money of a large company like Illumina means that its DNA sequencing technologies are far more accurate than the average ones.
At the University of Leicester, researchers such as Professor Jacqui Shaw are also trying to solve the problem by analyzing bits of DNA for errors that are only related to fast-progressing tumors.
"We hope today is a turning point in the war on cancer,"said Flatley."By making it possible for cancer to be detected early in people with no symptoms through a simple blood test,we aim to greatly decrease cancer deaths by finding the disease at a stage when it can be cured."
Last year,a similar test created in London by the Institute of Cancer Research was able to tell if breast cancer was coming back almost eight months before any symptoms were found.

9.Bears and humans often meet in National Parks.Although campers and hikers are warned not to feed the bears,many people ignore these warnings and feed the beasts anyway.When bears are used to people's food,problems soon arise.
Bears like to eat a large variety of things,both meat and vegetable.Without human assistance,bears live nicely on roots,twigs,leaves of trees,insects and small animals.With people around,the bears'tastes quickly expand to include sandwiches,hot dogs,hamburgers,and anything else they can temp humans into giving up.
Bears often develop clever strategies for getting people to let go their food supplies.More often than not,an unsuspecting hiker has taken off his or her pack for a rest only to have a bear charge out of the woods,grab the pack and quickly disappear into the underbrush with it.Hanging the pack on a tree branch won't help.Bears have been known to climb up,jump off,and catch the pack on the way down.One mother bear stretched up with her baby on her shoulders to reach a pack stored on a pole.Many bears threaten people into giving up their supplies.Although a bear is unlikely to attack a person and would probably run away if screamed at,few people are willing to do so.Most people drop the pack and run the other way.This,of course,delights the bear.In some places,the Park Service installed some metal barrels with lids to help campers keep their supplies safe from bears.Although the bears were unable to open these containers,the effort was less than successful.Most campers,unable to tell the metal drums from rubbish cans,never used them for the intended purpose.

67.Feeding bears on people's foodB.
A.brings the people a lot of fun    B.can cause problems
C.often causes injuries and deaths  D.helps bears survive
68.If people had never fed bears,the bearsA.
A.might be satisfied with what they had originally
B.would have starved long before
C.wouldn't have enough food supply
D.would have hunted for other kind of food
69.Which of the following is TRUE?D
A.If fed on sandwiches and hot dogs,the bears would no longer eat roots,twigs and insects.
B.It's likely that bears would hurt people if the people didn't give up their food.
C.Most people would frighten away the bears that would temp their food.
D.Seeing a pack,the bear would quickly snatch it and run away with it.
70.Bear-proof containers didn't work becauseC.
A.bears were clever enough to get the food in them
B.they were left open in the open air
C.people were not sure of their use
D.they were once used as rubbish cans.
