12.A school in Sarajevo not only accepted a deaf student,but also (61)taught(teach)the entire class sign language to allow them to better communicate with him.
The heartwarming story began in September last year (62)whena woman asked the primary school in her neighborhood (63)to accept(accept)her six-year-old son,Zejd,who has a (64)hearing(hear) disability.The teacher,Sanela,agreed almost immediately,(65)but(或yet)on the first day of school,she noticed Zejd (66)sitting(sit)all by himself,unable to communicate with any of his classmates.
Sanela,(67)determined(determine)to find a way out,tried developing a few signs of her own.But a parent of another child came up with (68)aneven better idea-getting the whole class to learn sign language along with Zejd.So they got a sign language teacher on board,and three months later,Zejd was able to communicate (69)happily(happy)with all his classmates about regular things like homework and (70)games(game).

61.taught    考查并列連詞的用法    由于并列連詞not only…but also…
先行詞"September last year"在從句中作時(shí)間狀語;故填關(guān)系副詞when
63.to accept   考查固定短語的用法     固定短語ask…to do 意為:讓…

2.There is no second chance…there is no chance of making mistakes."
That's why Dr.Omer Mei-Dan and others who enjoyed base-jumping and wingsuit(翼裝) flying were sad but not surprised by the recent deaths of three extreme sports enthusiasts.
Mark Sutton, the English parachutist(跳傘者),died on August 14 in Switzerland when he flew into a rocky ridge(山脊) in a wingsuit. Not even a week afterward,Mario Richard,a Canadian base-jumper,died in Italy during a wingsuit flight, when he"apparently failed to clear a rock by three meters."And most recently,Hungarian wingsuit flyer Victor Kovats died in Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park in Zhangjiajie on Oct.9 during a practice flight ahead of the World Championships.
According to Mei-Dan,six to seven percent of the 3,000 or so base-jumpers who use wingsuits or parachutes die each year-a huge number when you consider the most dangerous job in America, logging which has an annual death rate well under one percent of the workers.
Base-jumpers and wingsuit flyers are experienced. They have hundreds of practice before trying to fly from buildings, cliffs and towers. The same goes for those who drop from helicopters above mountains and valleys and then use their wingsuits to try to whiz by(飛速掠過) as close as possible to the rocks and ridges below.
Among the dangers, said Mei-Dan,is the temptation to"push the envelope":To try to get close to a rock wall, for example, than anyone else."When you push the envelope and you can not have any error at all,or you have to pay for it with your life."
So why do it?The experience of flying toward the ground in a wingsuit is almost indescribable."It's something that you really have to try to understand-what type of feeling you get when you're free falling next to a cliff,"Mei-Dan said.

3.Most people make a donation if they want to help those in need. And they hope that if they join demonstrations or hand out leaflets, they'll make others aware of the terrible conditions some people face. But 47-year-old British comedian,Eddie Izzard, did something completely different. He decided to raise money by running 1,100 miles through England,Wales,Northern Ireland and Scotland. And he managed to raise more than£200,000!
How long did it take him to run 1,100 miles?Believe it or not,it took him just 51 days. For six days out of every seven he ran at least 26 miles. In other words,he ran 43 marathons in less than two months, before he finished in great style and pouring rain in London's Trafalgar Square!
When asked how he felt,he told the BBC that he was planning to"sleep for a week".He thanked the people who had waited for him in Trafalgar Square despite the rain. They had all come to support him and to applaud his incredible achievement.
And the comedian admitted that his journey was pretty painful. He had to have his feet bandaged every day but still lost several of his toenails, and he had blisters (水泡)all over his feet.He wouldn't have been able to do what he did if he hadn't taken ice baths for his legs at the end of each day. These baths helped to"stop your legs inflating to twice the size of an elephant",as Eddie commented.
People who have no idea about running and experts alike are impressed with what he has achieved.Andy Dixon, editor of Runner's World,a magazine for long-distance runners, says,"Covering 26 miles in a day at whatever speed for 43 runs,it's demanding.A five-hour marathon is fairly decent pace. It's a massive achievement.
So,how did he do it?Well, when he decided to run,he wasn't even particularly fit.He ran his marathons slowly at first.Ten hours a day to begin with and,as he got fitter,he got faster. In the end he was finishing in just over five hours. But fitness alone was not enough. What was more important was the fact that he wanted to make a difference to other people's lives.
What Eddie Izzard did was so special that the documentary of his run has been made into an inspiring film:Believe!"You've got to believe you can be something else,"Eddie says in the film."I've done that a few times. That's why I keep going."
(Note:Answer the questions or complete the statements in NO MORE THAN THIRTEEN WORDS)
